Unhappy Forgotten necessities - I've topped them all

Well, that's a new low for me. I'm sort of accepting of forgetting my keys when I go to the camper at the storage lot. But today, I topped that. I just ran over to bring the camper to the house over my lunch break.

A couple of weeks ago, we took the hitch out of the truck for camping and the wife's scrapbooking trip. I just got the whole way to the storage lot and was pulling up to the camper before I realized I never re-installed the hitch, heck I didn't even put it into the truck at all - it's still in the garage!

Ouch! I've done similar things so can relate. How far to the storage lot from home?

Only 7 miles, but a good 20-25 minutes each way with lights and meandering roads in this gosh-foresaken town. I'll install the hitch later and go after work- just eats into the evening.

I am now beginning to understand who those signs are meant for at the RV parks.

Antenna down
Steps Stowed
Wife onboard

Just kidding, I’ve forgotten important things myself. I just don’t admit to them.

Last Sunday we drove up to our seasonal site to blow the leaves, hook up power and battery, put out the slides, just little stuff. I open the tailgate and didn't see either leaf blower. One of those things where DW thought I packed them and vice versa. That's the reason for checklists.

Yes, but I assure you- before today, I never would have assumed I could be so dumb to need "hitch" and "hitch installed" on a checklist!

It's not being dumb, they're called senior moments . And there is no age restriction.

Been there a few times, but on my racing go kart trailer. Now I leave the ball hitch in the trailer.

Untill you show up in the sub compact car or motorcycle to tow the RV out of storage, I think you are fine.

Aw, don't be so hard on yourself! It's not like a 8 foot post with a red flag pops up and says NO HITCH

Honestly, with my 20" tires and bed cover...if I had taken my hitch out 3 weeks ago I get I woulda forgot too!

Oh wait, I forgot, I park my rig to the side of our house

Heh. I'm claiming it was the bed cover. It's always closed.

That's actually what made me realize it as I pulled up to the camper. I thought about backing up and dropping the tailgate and opening the bed cover and went, "DUH!".
