Found my truck!

IF any of you have been following my saga-
Educate me about 1/2 ton trucks
and F150 tow/haul numbers

I've been all over the place in my head and the internet!
Looked at some RAMs today but stopped at the Nissan dealer
on the way home.

They have a Nissan Titan 2017 with all the towing whistles and bells.
Mirrors, hitch, brake controller, back up camera on and on and on.
MSRP $44250
Year end buy before Dec 24 special
$10,000 off.
Think I just found my truck.

Some things to consider.
My truck pulls my trailer but it's stretched pretty thin at 70 or on the hills.
I think my tow rating is somewhere around 7800.
This Titan is rated at 10,000 towing and it's got about 90 more HP and 90
more FtLbs than my current Silverado 5.3L
Also 7 speeds compared to my 4 and I never use OD so I'm really a 3 sp.

$10k off msrp. That's a pretty sweet deal....

The icing on the cake is it's got suicide doors (my preferred body style) and it's my color!!
Woo Hoo!

Nice discount. Me personally, I don't like the way the Titans look, but those that have them seem to be very impressed with their performance. Good for you for finding what you were looking for. Was Nissan a consideration originally, or did you find it just because you got curious and expanded your search criteria to include the Titan?

I went from a 00 GMC Sierra with 5.3 to Titan XD diesel and no regrets. Our trailer loaded to go is 8200# and is extremely comfortable. No mechanical or electrical issues to date with 40K miles. Good luck with whatever you choose.

As I mentioned earlier today you should have at least checked out a Chevy and drove one as no comparison to what you have now. Down side is you would needed to find one with the 6.2 gas which is awesome. Ya not a big fan of Nissan. Later RJD

Sounds good Dan.

Everyone has a favorite but I've always been of the opinion if it does the job, then why not. Sounds like this one will. Curious as to the payload?

Negotiate on the price, even with the 10k discounts, it's year end and you WILL get more.

Best of luck. Hope Santa treats you well.

I have a 2017 Titan XD with the Cummins and this is a great pickup, only downside is the fuel tank being 26gals. The diesel has plenty of power and is super quiet.

I would highly recommend this platform after owning both GM and Ram pickups previously.

Dan,

I had a Nissan for a work truck for 3 years. A Great Truck! This will beat a Chevy any day and the suicide doors work well in the Nissan as well. Looks like you have found your truck! Congrats on the new Red Truck!!

That's all it is. Personal preference.
They are less convenient than a 4 door, no doubt.
I just like a "2 door".
I like the old 64 impala 2 door, my old 67 mustang, my 72 442, on and on (several more 2 doors in here .... just can't remember...)
right up to our little daily driver Hundai Accent hatch back 2 door- which they don't make any more.

The Titan back doors do open 180 where my current Silverado just open 90 which is a real PIA in my garage! But I'm stubborn and still prefer that body style.

I'll post cargo capacity once I bring it home and can do the math on the
door post sticker.

I do know I looked at the cargo capacity of 3 different RAM 1500s yesterday- they were not my preferred body style. They were crew cabs which adds weight and subtracts cargo capacity but dang---
They were all in the 1200-1300 LBS cargo range. I thought that was kinda
low...
