Fresh Water Between Trips?

What do I do with the fresh water tank between trips in my tt...keep it full, empty or what? The dealer filled it and I brought it home full but we likely won't use it for a month or so.

I'm guessing I should empty my grey water tanks and leave a little in the black water tank to keep things from drying up. Its my first tt, so any guidance is appreciated.

Thanks!

I've always been of the school that water in fresh tank is good for about two weeks. When I'm going on a trip I fill it with fresh water the day before.
I always leave water in the grey and black tanks. After emptying I put a few gallons in.

We ALWAYS fill the FW tank before we leave.
And drain it when we get home.

Interesting, I didn't expect to hear that people prefer to travel with a full tank. Guess its easier than trying to fill up at the campground.

You never know what the water quality will be like at a campground. If your water quality at home is good it might be beneficial to bring it with you. We often have lunch in the trailer while traveling. Water comes in handy for dish washing and bathroom use. I always drain the freshwater tank before a trip and add new water.

The one thing that you DO NOT want to do is leave a load in the black tank during storage. In the summer.

Don't ask - Just believe!

I normally fill our fresh water tank with hot water before heading out because I know it will be the best water of the entire trip. Especially taking that first shower!

If the water has clorine it will start smelling in 4 or 5 weeks.

We are mostly weekend State Park campers. Now, we always fill up at home before we leave. Water at the State Parks is usually Well Water... and sometimes less than appetizing. We've found our filter and Anode rod last several YEARS, too.. versus one season - when we were using Well water from the parks.

Also - as we're filling the FW tank, I've got the outside spigot open for the HOT water to 'flush' the Hot water heater & make sure I have more fresh than non-fresh water in there. No bad egg smell this way.

Always empty the FW tank at the end of the trip.
