Fresh water tank drain

Yesterday, we went to sanitize the fresh water system on our TT. We got the bleach in, we got the water in, we ran all the faucets and the toilet, until everything smelled all nice and clean and bleachy. Then Ken decided to just go out and open the drain on the fresh water tank, to let the rest of the water drain out instead of pumping it all through the system. He went to turn the valve, and it broke off! So now there is an extremely slow drip of the fresh water tank and we have no way of fixing it, right now.

I'm hoping somebody on here can offer some advice. I can go to Camping World on Monday to see what they suggest. There is a really good mobile RV repair guy in the area, I can call him. I have a pic on my phone, but no idea as to how to get it onto the forums.

We were sooooo close! We were SO close to getting out on a trip this time with no issues. UGH! Oh well. It's always something. We're still going, even if we don't have water piped through the place! I told Ken, this would be the biggest "tent" at the campgrounds! LOL

I would go to Home Depot or Lowes and pickup a 1/2 water valve and a small clamp.

Shop Apollo 1/2-in Dia Brass PEX Ball Valve Crimp Fitting at Lowes.com__

1/2 inch size of this.

Shop Murray 2-Pack 7/16-in - 29/32-in Dia Stainless Steel Adjustable Clamps at Lowes.com=

Cut off the clamp on the broken one and replace.

Do like ford Idaho said.

Or the valve is trashed away and without the picture if the stem is sticking out could try to use pliers to open it. Not sure if u were trying to close it back or not.

He was trying to open it and it just fell apart in his hand. He tried to get a pair of pliers to open it and it continued to fall apart.

The drain valve looks like it is held on with a coupe of rivets, so he is not sure how to get it off. We'll look at it again today, after church.

If the valve is riveted on a drill or a Dremel with a cut off blade will make short work of them.

Please if you can post a picture to give us a better idea of what you are dealing with.

Take the pic with whatever device you use, upload it to your album page.
Right click on the IMG, select copy.

In the reply box, right click select paste.

Glad you got it fixed. Try to spray some lub next time you open it so it won't stick and break. Just to keep it loose and able to turn. Or just open the new one every other month so it can't corrode with gunk.

Great job with the pictures.

Lime and or calcium in the water?

I searched the forums and found a sticky that said how to upload pics.

http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...sics-6778.html

It's #7 on the list.

Open your album page, select upload, select browse, select picture folder, view IMG, double click it.
The IMG address should pop up in the first address box select upload.
Next you should get the option to change the IMG title if you wish.
If you change it or not select save changes.
