The last and only time I drove into Mexico was an accident that cost us $600 while a gun was pointed at us by the border town police. A buddy of mine was trying to show us a place to park in the U.S. to walk into Mexico and he screwed up big time! We ended up on a road that was under construction and had no choice but to cross. We went in and found the first driveway to the left to turn around and go back out and were pulled over within 30 seconds. Never again! We were in a junky Jeep Cherokee. Couldn't imagine the shake down with an RV.

Automobile accidents in Mexico are considered Criminal, not a Tort/Civil legal system issue. The standard personal lines auto policy specifically excludes Mexico. They may sell you an endorsement, but it is not worth the paper it is written on, they simply don’t want the exposure. You would need to buy a specialty policy for your tow vehicle and another for your trailer.

How do you get to that beach resort? That might be the issue here. Fly into Cancun stay in the American motels & hotels. No issue. Drive across the bridge into Old Town Cancun-- Now that another story.

Fully understand but it is the "getting there" issue that worries me. No way would I evr consider driving there from the USA

Ok, this one seems to have run it's course. The OP should be able to judge for himself by now from the amount of responses if his idea is going to be feasible.

The site team has had to clean it up again, and can't keep babysitting it. We're going to close it now for the sake of forum harmony. Let's please direct our energies to other topics and helping fellow members.
