From South Florida to Southern California

Hello everyone.

We are planning to drive from Southeast Florida to Southern California (Los Angeles area), probably across the 10 Freeway. I am not sure which highway/Intestate we are taking up from South Florida to the 10 Freeway.

I would greatly appreciate recommendations for campgrounds/places to stay overnight along this route.

We are in no rush to get across.

Thanks in advance.

We have Good Sam and Passport America memberships, if that makes a difference.

Maybe if you compartmentalize it....that's a long trip.
Separate posts for different stages. Like S. FLA to GA, etc.

Maybe I should have asked for recommendations along the 10 Freeway across the Country.

We have done that trip, but not all at one time. Starting in Seffner we stayed at Big Oak RV park in Tallahassee, Parker's Landing in Biloxi, MS, Red Shoes RV Park (Coushatta Casino) in Kinder, LA, Guadalupe River Resort in Kerrville, TX, Balmohrea State Park in Balmohrea, TX, Sunny Acres RV Park in Las Cruces, NM, Rincon Country West in Tucson, Cocopah Bend RV Resort in Yuma, AZ, Pechanga RV Resort in Temecula, CA. Paso Robles RV Ranch in Paso Robles, Betabel RV Park in San Juan Bautista, CA.

Would not want to go across West Texas in July-August, not much out there so plan carefully.

We have stayed at a number of New Mexico State Parks in the boot heel of New Mexico, which I-10 passes through. Rockhound (just at Deming) is a pleasant spot, but a bit north of I-10 up 180 towards Silver City is City of Rocks. It's quite an interesting location, mostly quiet and very different. There are a number of commercial campgrounds in Deming, but for my tastes all of these are way too crowded.

What do you mean? Not many camping grounds or civilization?

When I drove from LA to South Carolina several years ago on the 40, there was nothing at all, just open nothingness. It was very, very scary. I thought the 10 has stuff.

In Louisiana, Cajun Palms Resort in Henderson, LA or KOA in Lafayette, LA. These are good campgrounds in the heart of Cajun Country.

Great, thank you so much. I will look them up and start to plan the itinerary.
