Fuel/Maintenance logs

Just wondering how many actually use fuel and maintenance logs - did you make up your own or buy one ready made?

Have kept a fuel, mileage, mpg, gal., place & date book since 1972 on my trucks, nothing on TOWTA's cars. Left the logs in the trucks when traded. Kept a complete one on my 1st new car, 64 Chevelle, gave it to Bob Eriksen in Milan, IL when I ordered my 67 Chevelle and with that log, he sold the 64 and the new owner was waiting for the car when we went to pick up the 67. He was gone before we were. Bob Eriksen got a big laugh out of it and said "I wish everyone kept logs like that, makes selling cars easy." Last log I kept on a car. But have been very religious on the trucks. 72 El Camino, 78 Chevy Hvy 1/2, 81 El Camino, 95 Silverado, 2000 Silverado and the present 05 Silverado. I know, more than you wanted to know.

I keep a maintenance log for the truck in a simple spreadsheet.

I keep a fuel log in an app called GasCubby. I'm not 100% on using it but I try.

I also have a spreadsheet of our camping trips- one for each year.

I just keep recipts marked for which vehicle they pertain too, than tabulate and file them (once a year) according to fuel type ( gas, road diesel, off road diesel,) maintenanc, parts etc. and on some of the vehicles they are recorded on spead sheets for tax deductible expenses.

I keep a maintenance log for the truck on a spreadsheet. I don't keep a fuel log because I don't want to know how much I spend for fuel on our trips.

I keep a fuel log in my console. I keep track of how many towing miles are on each tank also. I will keep a maintenance log when I get to my first oil change. This is my first NEW vehicle since 1990.

I have always kept a maintenance log on every vehicle I have ever owned. My DW has folders in which the receipts for maintenance,tire purchases,oil/filters etc are kept for each vehicle. I started a new separate log for our new FW in which I also track the mileage towed to each place. I track the FW mileage to the TV mileage for each trip.

Just a habit I picked up from my Air Force days and kept ever since.

I've kept mileage/maintenance logs on all of my vehicles since my first car - it's just something that I do without even thinking about (always done in pen and paper.) That said, it's a little disheartening sometimes to see how little fuel used to cost

Well I guess I got it easy, my maintenance log is in my head, I most likely overdue all maintenance, changing fluids more often than most. I guess that's what happens when you make your living as an ASE master certified technician and have the access to the facilities. My fuel log I use dashboardfuelly.com
