Furnace AND Heat pump Running?

My wife and I are on our shakedown camping trip in our new 2017 FR Forester 3171DS. We are in the Shenandoah Valley of VA and it got a little chilly last night, around 40°. When I got up this morning I put the heat pump on and it did a good job of warming up the MH. I shut it off for about thirty minutes and then turned on the furnace to check it out, and both the furnace and heat pump came on, even though it is set to Furnace (see picture). Both have been running about twenty minutes now. Hot air coming out of the furnace vents (ceiling) and cooler air coming out of the ceiling vents. Is this normal?

That should say floor vents for the furnace, not ceiling.

Make sure your fan setting is set to auto that should stop the heat pump fan from coming on when the furnace kicks in

Furnace AND Heat pump Running?

My unit does not have a heat pump so the thermostat is different but I'm sure the following will solve your problem.
Press the mode button until the light is on next to Fan. Then use + or - until you see Au (for Auto) and you're done. I'm sure your fan is set to Hi or Lo which makes it (but not compressor) run with the furnace.

Thank you Sea Dog and Mr. Dan. Your quick responses solved the problem pronto! The furnace is doing its job and the AC fan is not running. I appreciate your help.

In cases of excess condensation on the inside of the windows you may find it beneficial to let the AC fan run to keep your windows from "fogging". This is the same principle as your automobile cycling the AC system when the defroster is on.

Also, MANY folks LIKE the option of having the A/C fan run during furnace operation.
Heat rises and the A/C fan helps distribute that heat throughout the rig more evenly.
