furrion tv on battery power

All

Just picked up a 2020 forest river 2304KS mini lite. The Furrion tv only runs on shore power how do I get it to run on battery when dry camping. Can I use the cigarette plug. YES IT ONLY PLUGS INTO 120V PLUG. I AM LOOKING FOR A WAT TO PLUG THE TV INTO AN PORTABLY INVERTER THE WOULD PLUG IN THE CIGARETTE PLUG AND THEN WORK THAT WILL ALSO NOT OVER HEAR OUTLET

thanks
Bob

Is it a 12V tv or does it have a standard 120V plug on the end of it ?? If it's a 120V tv...unless you have an Inverter to plug it into or one installed in the trailer, while on battery, you don't have any 120V to run anything like that.

while some models of RV and motorhomes will have a 12v 'Jensen' brand tv in the bedroom that can run only on 'batteries', most any TV in most any camper is going to only operate when you have 120v power, either thru Shore, Generator, or an Inverter.

but, adding a simple small off-the-shelf inverter at W*mt or most any auto parts store will easily get your TV going.

Your post is a bit misleading about how the tv plugs in.
You mention it runs on shore power (120v) but then ask if you can use the cigarette plug (12v) Does the tv have another power cord that adapts to the cigarette plug?
Some tv's do actually run on 12v.

If not, you will need a small INverter that plugs into the cigarette plug and changes the 12v to 120v. To keep from melting the cigarette plug, you will need a small INverter of just a couple hundred watts.

Of course, you can always run a generator for 120v power when dry camping.

You will likely want to improve your battery bank by adding a battery also as it will kill your battery running a TV on a single group 24 battery which is what most new campers come with. Suggest reading the 12v side of life part 1 and 2 on the left side of the page.

Yes. I have a plug in inverter and run my telly off it when boondocking. Amazon's full of 'em.

In my previous TT there was both a 120 v receptacle and 12v power outlet right behind the TV.

One of the best Inverter's I've run across it the Bestek True Sine Wave 300 watt unit sold by Amazon.

https://smile.amazon.com/BESTEK-300W...-1-spons&psc=1
More than enough to run the TV, very low current draw when not under load, Well built (feels like quality), and only $45.

I use mine to charge and run my laptop while on the road and if you keep the load down to 150 watts or so most power outlets will work just fine. When my TV is running it uses about 3.5 amp from the 12 V power source.

Our Rockwood 2109S also came with a 24" Furrion that only worked on 120V. Since we mostly dry camp (two 6V Trojan golf cart batteries +100W solar panel), I found a 19" Samsung that came with a "brick" power supply that stepped the 120V AC down to 12V DC. I ordered a second power supply and hard wired it into my 12V system (with a shutoff to limit the parasitic drain). Just be careful with the polarity however as you will blow up the TV power supply if you get wire the 12V polarity incorrectly. (Ask me how I know....)

I also believe that many of the smaller Insignia TVs are the same (Best Buy brand) and there are a bunch on Amazon (up to 32") (search under 12V RV TVs).

We moved the Furrion into a guest bedroom in the house.

Yes, what you did would work, especially if you want an extra TV but wouldn't a small TSW Inverter be less expensive??

I installed a Simplex 120 watt pure sine wave inverter to run the 32" Furrion Tele and a Directv receiver. The receiver will not work with a modified sine wave inverter. The tele uses 60 watts and the receiver 25. I plug the inverter into the 12 volt tv ant booster outlet that is fused at 15 amps. So you would be good with a inverter up to around 175 watts plugged into that outlet if yours is fused at 15 amps.
