Garden of the Gods RV Park

Going to Colorado in August and want to base in the Colorado Springs area. Has anyone stayed at Garden of the Gods RV Park? If so, how was it? Easy to get to?

Just back from COS (Business trip) a few weeks ago. Went to hike the Garden trails and passed the camp on the way back to town. From the road camp looks good, COS tends to be warm in August. What are your goals in camping at Garden of The Gods? My preference would be to go further up the front range and came somewhere around, say, Cripple Creek (We have stayed at Lost Burro campground and it was GREAT!)

Lots of RV parks in Woodland park, about a 30 minute drive from Colorado Springs and more of a mountian park with trees etc. Another park is Mountiandale rv park just south on highway 115 from Colorado Springs. A nice mountian setting with trees and full hookups

We are planning to do day trips from the base campground. Thought that Col. Springs would be a central location. Also, will have our dog and she needs to run a bit. GOG campground has an off leash dog park, so that would be great. We'd like to see old mining towns, and things that show Colorado's beauty, etc. Have been there before and seen Red Rocks, Pikes Peak. I am definitely open to any suggestions.

Also looking for parks that are conveniently located to main highway. Since you live out there, where would you suggest. Looking forward to showing my son some of Colorado's beauty!

There is an amazing park in Larkspur, CO called Yogi Bear. I live in the Springs and it's not far and totally worth it. I've not seen the GOG park, but I'm willing to go drive that for you. And, it's not hot enough in that part of the springs to bother you. There are some parks on 24, but I would personally avoid them. I would say Woodland Park is quite a drive, but beautiful. Larkspur , CO would put you central to the front range and on 25. Super quick access. I love that park and use it for weekends even though I'm literally 20 minutes from it. It just has tons to offer.
Any questions PM me. Again, happy to check out that park. How big do you need your space to be?

I see that you have the unit we just traded. Loved it...but not sure about maneuverability in that campground. The roads down in old colorado city are right. I'm sure it's do-able. There is a campground with full hookups and great set up off the hwy at the Monument exit which keeps you closer to Colorado Springs if that's your goal which can handle the bigger rigs. I'll Pm you the site. We use it to dump when we come home as we live near that exit.

I was there last summer. It is a nice park with decent sized spaces and a clean laundry room. It is not far off of I25. Was the perfect location for our time in the Springs.

Stay there once a year usually. New company took over last year and making some improvements. Right on busy highway but good Mexican place across the street makes up for it

I'm working that week, but may be able to make it Fri and Sat. It's relatively close for me. Are you going to be there? If I make it, I'll look you up.

Drove thru this campground two weeks ago to check out park for long term stay in May 2015.
Roads are all paved and in good shape. Many long term campers so spaces are at a premium. Make reservations early. Sites are close together and most have some shade. We are going further outside the Springs to book a site. Many campers have sat dishes set up. I don't know if park has cable. Good luck on your trip!

Stayed in GOG CG last summer in 40' MH pulling a toad..... Not my favorite so won't be staying there again.... Tight roads getting to it and a little far from interstate.... Next trip we will stay a little further up the interstate.....

This is kind of what I thought with a big rig. This park seems to be more of a long term park and based on what I know about living here, those are tight roads. I think it's do-able, but there are some parks that are closer to 25 designed for the bigger rigs. That's a really cool area to visit and do things in, but this isn't a big town..so you are never more than about 20 min from anything you want to do anyway...even if you stay up here where I am..north of Springs..or down off 115 as NoPutt suggested.

I appreciate the info/help all. I do think that I will probably check out some different parks that might be easier to get in and out of. Also, have stayed at parks that have a lot of long termers, and they just don't seem as friendly. My wish list includes easy access to highways (Interstate 25?), decent showers, laundry, off leash dog park, pool, nice views....
Just a wish list, not definitive.
