We like Up the Creek RV Camp. While no pool it is very peaceful. Off the main drag but still close. I believe they do have a Trolley stop there too.

KOA in Pigeon Forge is nice and within walking distance of many things. It's next to Patriot Park that has a walking trail around it and next to the stream. A trolley stops here and will take you anywhere for 50 cents.

Don't forget to check out the good places to eat at. In Gatlinburg for a great breakfast try Log Cabin Pancake House, they serve crepes, peach, cherry, blueberry, blackberry, apple. The country ham biscuits to go is a nice treat later. In Pigeon Forge there is The Old Mill Restaurant, a really great breakfast place. We hit the Apple Barn for hot apple turnovers and hot apple dumplings with ice cream. They have a big place to shop and two great restaurants. Traffic is always bad in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We normally take the trolley to Gatlinburg, you can walk to most everything there. If you want to see the park headquarters and see Elkmount you can take a trolley there from Gatlinburg. It's a nice little trip, you get to see some of the park and you can stop at Sugarlands visitors center. Oh yes to get around most traffic in Pigeon Forge find Veterans Boulevard, there is hardly any traffic on it.

We're looking for a nice campground in the Gatlinburg area. We have a 35' Motorhome with a toad. Looking to relax, a pool if open and paved level sites, maybe a pull through site. Some sight seeing too. At a quick glance we saw the KOA in Pigeon Forge. We are driving from Pittsburgh Pa.

We welcome any suggestions and as always thanks for your input.

What highway are y'all coming down on? Have you decided on your campground? From where y'all are coming there may be a better way to get to the campground

Hello everyone! I'm going to go along with Decon Blue and follow through with my plans to head to Myrtle Beach. We are leaving tomorrow morning and will be stopping at a friends place in Oak Island N.C. before heading to Myrtle Beach on Thursday. We are not strangers to leaving Myrtle due to a Hurricane. We will be watching closely and get out quickly if needed. If a definite path is determined by Thursday we can adjust our plans then and head inland somewhere safe. We are not crazy just a little adventurous.

Myrtle Beach is nice, great places to eat at. I hope Irma is a miss for NC. But then again I don't want to wish bad luck on anyone, this storm is going to hit somewhere

We are re-evaluating our Gatlinburg idea. Every CG we called told us politely and to the point "good luck". Two very large car cruises over the next two weeks. Bumper to Bumper traffic and not a good week to visit let alone no sites.

If you would be so kind keep us posted on what you see and hear down in Myrtle Beach. We are so frustrated and still kicking the idea of chancing it. We're coming from Pittsburgh, PA and leaving Friday stopping on the way and arriving Saturday. Like you the first sign and we'll pack up and head inland.

We avoid the tourist mecca campgrounds in Sevierville and Pigeon Forge. WE always stay in Townsend, TN. Preferred campground is Tremont, at the end of town, right before the park.
Home

Call, no online reservations. 30 amp and 50 amp. Cable TV, free wifi. Quiet with nice spots on the water.

It's a pretty campground, I have never stayed there but went in for a look one time. It's just a little to far away from the good eating spots

Jmsx2 I will try to keep you in mind if I get a clue to what is going on. You said you are leaving Fri. hopefully we will all know by then. I live in Western Maryland about 140 mi. from Pittsburgh. Where were you going to stay in Myrtle Beach? We will be staying at Myrtle Beach Travel Park. We may head to the Asheville area in North Carolina if we have to leave the beach. I might delay my arrival in Myrtle to Fri if I need a better idea what IRMA is doing. Good Luck! The main thing is to be safe.

Thank you. We're staying at Ocean Lakes Campground. Our arrival is Saturday. We may find a place to stay half way down and then see what happens. Is Asheville a nice area? We'll need to figure out where to go if we have to leave. Thanks again.
