Generator

Tried to start generator this morning, got a few whining sounds heard a hum from inside the gen cabinet then nothing. Any ideas? Also had veh plugged into house 110 all night and steps seem to be sluggish. New batteries in veh.

Check the coach battery disconnect. I turned my to the off position and later tried to start my generator. I was plugged into shore power also. The lights dimmed and it won't turn over. Reconnected batteries through switch and it was fine.

Battery disconnect was part of the problem but still same results. Sounds like grinding but no start.

May need to give the batteries time to charge if they have discharged too much. You should also check the ground to the generator. May not be making a good connection. Also do you have more than a 1/4 tank of gas? If you don't it will not start due to fuel pick up.

Ground seems to be tight and clean, plenty of gas. New unit to me so I'll ask a dumb question. Does switch in stairweel need to be in store or use position to charge house batteries as weel as coach batteries?

Use position to charge the house batteries. Sorry for the delayed response. It's 98 degrees here so I jumped in the pool for a while.

You were right on the money batteries were low on water and needed a good charge. All works fine! Another lesson learned. Again thanks for all the help!!!! I guess a 30 amp hookup outside is the answer.

Glad to hear it's all working now.
I found out Sunday a week ago after I installed a load center prior to my inverter. I turned the batteries off and once I finished the work I went to start the generator everything dimmed and it sounded terrible. Then it dawned on me to turn the batteries back on. Everything then was fine. Of course I went in the house and acted like it all went perfect.
