Generator/AC Unit power

Hello. I have a 3250 watt generator and a 13500 btu AC unit on my Salem. For one weekend I’m going to need to find a way to supply power to the AC unit without shore power. My generator only has two normal wall outlets though, so my question is there an adapter that will allow me to connect both of those outlets to my 30 amp connection to give me the power to do this?

Yes you can get an adapter, they usually sell them at RV dealers and I have even spotted them at wl mart, some campground stores carry them also, you Gen should run your A/C with no problem

If I hook into just one outlet though will that be enough power? Each outlet is 20 amp

1 outlet will be enough to run the a/c unit.

You can only use one outlet. Your AC only needs 15 amps. You will be fine. You can use a light or two also. Everything else will need to be on gas,

PS. Technically 12.5 amps. Thought I'd better fix that before somebody yelled at me.

Also run your hot water heater on propane. We often go to a military campground that is full but we camp in the overflow sites with just 20amps. We have two a/c but one is small and we run the small one and cut the other one off

You should also turn off the breaker to your converter. The AC will run fine on 20A, the big issue is when it restarts hot the peak draw may trip the breaker on the generator if there are other loads.
