I've had the Honda EU2000 and more recently the EU3000is. I sold the 3000 due to the weight of moving it around and bought two Generac IQ2000s. I have to say they are as quiet as the Hondas and seem to perform well with the auto-throttle on loads. I puchased the two Generacs and the parallel unit for $1500 so I'm very happy with the power for the money. I plan mostly running the single unless I need the A/C. They sure are easy to move @ 40lbs compared to 80lb.

Great solution. Its nice to be able to just run one in the fall and spring when you dont need A/C. My buds that have this setup all added a marine gas tank and dual fuel feed. They said it was much easier than tying to keep adding gas to two small tanks. Also dont foget to buy the Honda parallel kit. Got the fill kit on eBay I believe. One small conideration is that 2 2000's together is noisier than one 3000is.

Love my Yamaha 2000isV2's. I run two of them in parallel. I get lots of compliments from my fellow campers. They really appreciated the very low sound level (45dB). They only weigh 46lbs so it makes it easy to move around and store. They fit easily into the pass through and are extremely efficient. I ran them for four nights and used 10 gallons of fuel.

Yes, they are more expensive than most but the fuel shut off valve in itself is worth the price of admission. Ethanol is a big problem so unless you want to be cleaning\rebuilding your carbs every other season, keep it in mind.

Its also nice to be a good neighbor. You do not want to be the one in camp irritating the rest of those around you.

You must have an exceptional model, the Yamaha 2000isV2 is rated at 51.5 db (no load) - 61 db (full load), which is pretty impressive.

I recently bought the generac iq2000 at Cabelas. I got a hundred dollar gift card as well. I've used it twice. Very quiet and seems well built. Very happy with it.

If you live in Texas and are interested in this Champion Inverter Dual Fuel on sale at Costco for $850 you can buy it this Texas Tax Free Weekend and save another $70. Texas considers generators as storm standby and included them in this year's exemption. Great buy they will sell out.

I've done a lot of reading on the inverter generators the last few days. This Champion looks like a great buy. 1 question I have for you experienced RVers. The TT I'm looking at buying has an upgraded 50amp service but pre wired for an Onan 4K. Do you think it will work with the Champion 3100? Thanks for input.

Your TT external shore power cable will require a 50amp to 30amp adapter and this will then plug into the Champion but keep in mind you will only have 30amps of power to run things. Most of us that carry 30amp inverters do so because they are lighter weight and cost less. As a result we know to run only one A/C at a time or perhaps dont run a hair dryer with A/C on or the reset pops. Not a huge trade off, just something to manage. If your TT was upgraded to two A/C that is the most likely reason it is 50amp.

If you choose an external Generator or Inverter, you will not be using the Onan prewire. Onans are great units and most convenient, its usually simply a price point that keeps one from doing it. Lastly, I believe an Onan install adds the need to install a gastank in the trailer. Since Toyhaulers already have gas on board, you will find more Onsn prebuilds with that type.

HBillSmith, thanks for the input. I'm not experienced in the TT world at all. It's why I'm on here reading and learning. I like the Onan myself but figured if I could save a few thousand may be worth it. The TT TH im considering has just 1 AC is why I figured it could handle it. Im saving a few more pennies before I buy and will then make a determination. Enjoy and appreciate all the input from you and others.

I have a Onan 5500 quiet gen set in the fiver and works great. I do have a Generac 7k for my house and that thing is a beast and starts up quick even after sitting for a few months when I forget to test run her monthly but it is not quiet by any means. Lol. Of course, it is for house use and is outside the garage when needed. It is very reliable though. Had her 4 years and zero issues. At times, the fuel will sit a while but I do use Lucas ethanol stabilizer and try to run her every so often to keep the carb clean.

Two Honda eu2000 With parallel kit. Easier to load one at a time. When camping I switch off running one at a time to charge the battery but can use both if running air. Very quiet.

I concur regarding the Champions. I came across them by accident, but their design is no accident! 100% designed for the RV Market. Amazing how inexpensive and perfect. They have a wide selection. For those that only need a single 30amp line consider the model 100222 that I purchased at your local LOWES. It is already wired for a 30 amp RV connection as if you are plugging in at a pole! No adapters needed. Here is the link

The 100222 is not an inverter and quite loud.

No Kidding - a generator. But it does the job and you don't need 2 in parallel to get 30 amps or run your AC. It may produce noise, but all of them do, it's a question of how much.

The point I was making without getting too technical, it is a single phase generator! NOT the standard multi-phase that only lets you use half of the output it creates unless you are using 240Vac. That would mean you would need an 8K multiphase to do the job of the 4K single phase. My point is that the 100222 does the job of a LOUDER, HEAVIER, more EXPENSIVE 8K.

I spoke to a person the other day that was passing through with his TT and his Honda 2000 gets too hot (has a metal box around it to not get burnt!) and it will not run his air conditioning - and he only has the 13500 BTU ac.

Regarding Sound, it is 68 dBa at 23 ft. I will try to be more than 25 feet away, ...

If you want an invertor generator, Don't purchase a 100222, but if you want the real thing, consider a 100222 that's all. BTW, Champion makes an IG version that was in the link I provided.

my yamaha ef3000iseb has been great. has 1000's of hours on it have owned it for 8 years or so. Runs a good 20 hours on full tank on low setting only about 2 1/2 gals. it is heavy though will run ac fine. If i was to buy again it would be two 2000 yamahas ran together much easier to lift

Own Champion 3500w (100222)and Honda 2000i.
Champion is for home backup power and the Honda is for camping.

NO WAY would I subject my fellow campers nor myself to the noise level of the Champion.
Moving it farther away will probably put it closer to another camper.

My goal was to get the quietest generator for camping as possible. That is the Honda 3000 . The added plus is it will run my air conditioning if needed.
