Champion is for home backup power and the Honda is for camping.

NO WAY would I subject my fellow campers nor myself to the noise level of the Champion.
Moving it farther away will probably put it closer to another camper.
I assume your Champion is a NON inverter generator. The Champion inverter generators are very campground friendly.

Westinghouse inverter generator just came out last fall. I watched a sound comparison on Utube. They showed the honda, harbor freight and Westinghouse from 3 ft, 12 ft and 30 ft, idle and load. The Westinghouse is very competitive. I think it's W2400i

Ordered one of the 3100 Champion dual fuel inverters from Costco yesterday. Hope it does all I expect. Lot of good reviews out there on this unit. Will be testing it out in 3 weeks at a BBQ comp. we shall see.

I ordered the Champion 3100 Dual Fuel last week from Costco. Said it would take weeks to deliver got it in 3 days. Got it Friday and spent yesterday breaking it in with variable loads for 5 hours. Seems well built and quiet. Couldn't justify the Honda price for using 5 or 6 times a year. All said and done very happy with choice.

Does it run much different on propane? I know watts are less, but can you tell any noise difference?

Generator

I have the 9000+ watt one that I use when the power is out at my house. I really like it and the added feature that it is dual fuel. I don't hear any difference in the noise level running it on either gas or propane.

I'm thinking of getting one for my fifth wheel.

Due to the noise level of this generator, it may be prohibited in most campgrounds, Before you make the decision, check the noise level and then consider where you plan to use it.

Here's ours:

It's a Champion 3100W inverter generator. Runs everything I need it too really nice. I just have to be careful that I don't try to run the microwave while the AC is on.

My favorite feature is the wireless start. I can either start to stop the generator without even getting out of bed.

There seems to be a little less bass if that makes any sense, kind of tinny.

I just got back from a 2 week boondocking trip to test the solar I just installed and see how the new WH2000i handled the AC as I
just installed the Micro-Air easy start and wanted to see if it would allow the WH2000i to run the AC. Works great. Starts and runs AC even from economy mode. Just have to watch that AC is not cycling when using MW.

Got my Champion dual fuel 3100 in this week. Breaking it in today. Runs great. Started right up. Not as quiet as I hoped but still exceptional. I can tell the little noise will be no issue camping. Trying it out in a couple weeks on a trip. Let's see how it does.

Okay....there are a lot of posts to read, and I'm not that patient. LOL

I currently use a noisy genny at race tracks. But it's big. 5600 Watts load, 7000 start up. But, I am considering the 3100 Champion. Will it run a 15K A/C? Or is that too much t ask of it? Anyone with testimony of said use?

Your 2 biggest consumers of power in your camper are the AC and microwave. As long as you don't run both at the same time while on generator, you should be fine.
