Generator Placement

Hi all,
Just got 2 Generac IQ2000's for my FR RV.
Was just wondering where everyone puts them when running.
Can they be put under RV when running to get them out of weather (Rain /Snow)? Or do they have to be out in open? In that case do they run okay in rain?

only thing you need to worry about is the exhaust heat and fumes . you can put it anywhere you like , barring the above mentioned items

I keep mine under the front aframe. They are under the battery / propane tanks. It keeps them pretty dry and out of the weather. Also lets me lock them to the Aframe.

I won't put my generator under my 5th wheel unless there is a very strong, consistent wind and then only when I'm awake and aware. The exhaust can enter the RV in several ways, and it is not to be trusted. Here's my silly but effective solution

I wouldn't put mine underneath either!

I put mine behind about ten feet, no issue of theft either.

Have you run them in the rain uncovered?

I've run my duel Hondas in the rain, never an issue. Been using the by the trailer and outside our house in power outages for the 8 years I have had them.

I put mine under my truck's bed covers.
They are 3 piece and I leave the tailgate down for airflow.

I was just looking at those to replace my eu3000is. The Honda is just too heavy to move and I don't mind the hand start. I really like the generac features with the digital meters and gas gauge. Plus I would rather keep them in the front pass through rather than my pickup bed.

I just purchased a truck bed tool box that will hold both my 2000W gennys. I plan to modify the box to allow me to secure and use gennys while in box. I will mount the 30A receptacle through the box, so I can keep lid locked. I will include vents on the sides. This also keep it dry.

Most of these generators are made to operate in weather. But like everything else, I like to protect equipment from rain, etc.

The only thing I ever try to protect is the electrical connections.

Might consider mounting a cooling fan or 2 to the box especially considering power is right there.

When boon docking I keep my eu3000 in the bed of my truck. I have a cable to keep it secured and have installed a remote start. I then park the truck away from the bedroom.

I have two of the Honda 2000's and since I have a fifth wheel I have mine under the front of the 5er which keeps most of the weather off them and like others have said I lock both to the frame with a custom made cable and lock.

I've had generators overheat in truck beds that had sprayed on dark colored/black bedliners. Seems like the bed got very hot and generators overheated even with the tailgate down.
