Getting the most out of RVing?
Three years into RVing. Third year heading to key west via central NY. We're looking to make more stops along the way there and back to make it more memorable.
Any suggestions?
It feels like we drive the interstate getting "there" but know we're missing the adventure.
Driving a 38' class A starting in January ending in March.

Through there - D.C. will be cold and crazy with the inauguration. (Please no political comments.) But, the capital is always fun to explore.
South of there is Williamsburg if you can find somewhere that's open.
Charleston, SC is beautiful. Some great history there, too.
Myrtle Beach, SC is nice and quiet in the off season.
Jacksonville, FL is nice. We explored that area for a bit. I've heard that St. Augustine, FL is nice but have never visited there.
Orlando is a tourist trap; but we love Disney and spend time there.
What kinds of things do you like?

I agree with the Charleston SC stop, also check out the historic squares in Savannah GA. St. Augustine FL is also interesting. If you go a bit out of your way (maybe) to the west, the Blue Ridge Parkway is beautiful and so is the Great Smokey Mountains Nat'l Park.

Gatlinburg, Tennessee in the Smokie Mountains is very nice this time of year. Camp Gulf in Destin is also a favorite.

Gettysburg worth a stop. We were there this spring and enjoyed the tour of the battlefield where the guide drives your vehicle to give a personnel tour of the battle well worth the extra bucks. We also drove down to Kitty Hawk, very good presentation at the National Park Facility there about Orville and Wilber Wright.

If you subscribe to Trailer Life or Motorhome magazine, go to the online site and search on the states you'll pass through. Each edition has several articles on places to visit and things to do all across the country.

Gettysburg in January through March is going to be COLD. I recall Januaries where that area was in single digits at night and daytime temps in the teens. That's too hardy for me in an RV. (Says the guy in Key West currently and grabs a jacket when it's 70 at night.)
Of course, even my suggestion of DC in Jan-Mar would be too cold for me, too. I wouldn't be happy until I got well into South Carolina and further.

If you are thinking about going west through Tenn. and 441 from Gatlinburg to Cherokee check ahead that the road is open.

....and just across the river, in SC, is a beautiful wildlife sanctuary, with a self guided motor tour.

Well I will chime in. Ocean City, MD, a lot maybe closed up for the season, but still plenty to see and do. Furthermore ten minutes from there is Assateague State Park. Camp on the beach (well very near) and watch wild horses walk through your campsite.

Just a bit, Gatlinburg TN is being evacuated now due to the huge forest fires burning in the park. I don't think I would head through the N C mountains anytime soon until these fires are controlled in both NC and TN.
