Global Warming? Not here.

I live in the beautiful, moderate, Pacific Northwest. Not too hot in Summer and not too cold in Winter. Not as much rain as we would like the rest of the country to think falls here so they don't all pack up and move here

Went to let the dog out this am for the things dogs do first thing in the morning (us too) and he wouldn't even stick his nose out the door.

Here's the reason:

Perhaps not cold by some areas standards but for us, a normal cold day in winter is maybe a low of 28-30.

To make it even more fun we got 10" of snow dropped on us Sun night through Monday afternoon. More expected Friday, Sat, Monday, and Thursday.

Looks like I'll be shoveling another foot of "Global Warming" out of my driveway over the next week

Also, didn't winterize my trailer when I returned from Arizona at the end of January. Just set heat at lowest setting on T-Stat and set an electric heater so it would kick on if for any reason the furnace failed. Turned on tank heaters and everything is working great. No frozen water. A note, make sure the hot water tank is turned on. It's exposed to the outside temps and well insulated from the inside heat. A big risk of freezing unless empty or turned on. So far this has been a good test of the winter capabilities of the Trailer.

Yeah, my mother lives around Tacoma.... she was bemoaning all they snow they received - 6" or so. After our second significant snowfall of the season here in Western MD and our below zero last week, I couldn't provide much sympathy. During the summer of '18, we pretty much had PNW weather and I hope this summer is drier. [emoji167]

Personally I cringe a little when folks measure global warming using the temperature outside of their current location.
Sorry about the snow, hope it melts quickly for you.

Hey......imagine how much colder it would be without this global warming.

Count your blessings.

I take it the OP was using Global Warming facetiously.

True. I do kind of shake my head though over "Climate Change Hysteria". We've had climate change since the earth was created. According to most scientists we're still in, albeit at the end, of the last Ice Age where the very place I live was covered by a huge glacier. Same scientists claim we've had several ice ages since the beginning.

Climate change comes from many different causes. Volcanoes, Meteors, shift in magnetic pole of the earth, and such. "Greenhouse Gases are created by decaying plants, methane emissions from animals and humans, or whatever else is decomposing. The forest fires which are natural also fill the atmosphere with particulates, CO, CO2, and even methane (from wood merely heated but not ignited.)

We stand a bigger chance of destroying our environment and the earth from political upheaval (euphemism for War).

Anyway, I ordered a new snow shovel for the next round of "global warming" at my house

Doesn't that cause what is now referred to as "Weather Whiplash".

I remember that from the time I lived in CO.

Would be near zero for a week or so and then we'd all be out playing golf in 70 degree weather. Great outings but you really had to be careful when pitching onto the frozen greens. Too high and the ball would bounce over onto the next hole.

No matter though, any excuse to get out of the office was good enough.

Adalark post#3has it right. Even if a joke, it’s no joke. Debating whether humans should do something or do nothing would likely cause the thread to be closed. Perhaps justifiably. Probably best not even to mention the topic here, joke or no joke. No good will come from it.

Yeah, me too. Australia is in it's worst heat wave in history. That's why it's called "Global Warming". It's world climate not local weather.

Climate is about the long term meaning years or decades. Weather is about today and the next week or two. Debating the validity and causes of climate change (not simply global warming) will get this thread shut down in a hurry!

And this is the only climate related thing that will happen in our lifetimes.

My only comment on this...

A few centuries back or so, my property was reportedly covered by about a mile thick chunk of ice...

This planet was around long before man walked on it, and it will be around long after man is gone. No species is exempt from extinction. It is a carbon based planet with carbon based life forms, and a self-cleaning planet.
