The one I didn't get at first was 'toad' - it's what they call the cars that are towed behind motorhomes.

I agree with making this a sticky or creating a glossary out of it.

To me AC is alternating current and A/C is air conditioner.
TV is tow vehicle and tv is television. (one's bigger than the other, get it?)

You should also add:
For Starting or Dual Purpose Batteries
CCA
MCA
RC or RM
AH

What does CCA mean?
Cold Cranking Amps is a rating used in the battery industry to define a battery's ability to start an engine in cold temperatures. The rating is the number of amps a new, fully charged battery can deliver at 0° Farenheit for 30 seconds, while maintaining a voltage of at least 7.2 volts, for a 12 volt battery. The higher the CCA rating, the greater the starting power of the battery.

What are MCA or CA rates?
This is a rating used to describe the discharge load in amperes which a new, fully charged battery at 32 degrees F (0C), can continuously deliver for 30 seconds and maintain a terminal voltage equal or greater than 1.2 volts per cell. It is sometimes referred to as Marine Cranking Amps or Cranking Amps.

What is reserve capacity?
Reserve Capacity, (RC) is a battery industry rating, defining a battery's ability to power a vehicle with an inoperative alternator or fan belt. The rating is the number of minutes a battery at 80 degrees F can be discharged at 25 amps and maintain a voltage of 10.5 volts for a 12 volt battery. The higher the reserve rating, the longer your vehicle can operate should your alternator or fan belt fail.

For Deep Discharge or "House Batteries"

Battery Storage Capacity Ratings

Two standard ratings are used to measure a battery's storage capacity.

AH - Amp Hours
RM - Reserve Minutes

The Amp Hour rating tells you how much amperage is available when discharged evenly over a 20 hour period. The amp hour rating is cumulative, so in order to know how many constant amps the battery will output for 20 hours, you have to divide the amp hour rating by 20. Example: If a battery has an amp hour rating of 75, dividing by 20 = 3.75. Such a battery can carry a 3.75 amp load for 20 hours before dropping to 10.5 volts. (10.5 volts is the fully discharged level, at which point the battery needs to be recharged.) A battery with an amp hour rating of 55 will carry a 2.75 amp load for 20 hours before dropping to 10.5 volts.

Reserve Minutes

Reserve minutes is the number of minutes a battery will carry a 25 amp load before dropping to 10.5 volts. (10.5 volts is the fully discharged level, at which point the battery needs to be recharged.)

Note regarding Optima batteries.
http://www.1st-optima-batteries.com/

If you look at their Dual Purpose and and "Deep Discharge" battery Amp Hour Capacity they are not very good. They are a terrific idea since they do not leak; require no maintenance but have very low amp hour numbers for their price.
