It was on the news that GM is pulling production of the Chevy Camero from Canada and will be made here in Michigan GM, is saying that it is cheaper to produce them here....I am sorry to see jobs lost in Canada.

THe news also reported that GM plans to keep auto production lines in Canada open even with moving some of the production back to the U.S..

Terrible news and loss of jobs for the Canadian auto workers. One man's loss is another man's gain.

As most people are well aware, there was substantial monetary contribution by the American Government to keep GM afloat during the economic turmoil of 2008, or thereabouts.

Just for information in this matter, the Canadian Government contributed substantially (some 13.7 billion) in assisting General Motors with their plants and operations here too.

Given our Canadian partnership with GM, we expected a greater level of commitment to Ontario and to Ontario autoworkers.

Just my two (Canadian) cents.

This is because GM now pays third world wages in the US just like walmart, pay a little and let food stamps take care of the rest.

I am certainly not on the inside here, but as I stated above, the news report I heard said that GM is not shutting down all production in Canada.
How much production will remain, I don't know.

While the posts so far are certainly well within our guidelines, I would like to caution everyone to keep comments civil and remind everyone that international (or US) politics have no place here.

Happy Holidays to all members and a very Happy and prosperous new year to us all. Happy Camping!
