GPS Recommendations

We want to buy a RV GPS and are deciding between the Garmin and the Rand McNally. Any thoughts from anyone regarding recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No doubt Garmin have one for traveling and hand held for hunting.

I have a Rand McNally 710. I tried to return it after the first time but General RV would not allow a return. After a call to RM they walked me through a firmware update and gave me lifetime map updates. I went from hating it to really liking it. I run Google maps on my phone and Waze and they are not as accurate as the RM. Don't buy a 710 but the newer products are better. Make sure the one you get has An RV mode to avoid low underpasses and restricted roads.

And then don't trust it. My Garmin has an RV mode and it is as dumb as a box of rocks. I'm on an entrance road to a Virginia SP that was opened in 1936 and the thing tells me, "RV accessibility unknown." Really? It tried to send me into a truck stop parking lot, around the back and back into the street. Two weeks ago it sent me 4 miles out of my way, bypassing an alternate route. We took that route on the way home from the park and not only was it shorter but also the road was straighter and wider.
And I'm supposed to trust this thing to keep me away from tight situations? I don't think so.

I don't have one for my TV but I have a nav system (Garmen) in my car and like awellis3 said it's not to accurate. It sent me 100 miles out of my way on a trip last year.

neither

never had alot of luck with either... both have quirks. google maps on phone works best for me however you need to be aware if you are heading off road with bridges for weight and for underpasses. I only use my Rand Mcnally these days as insurance

Just purchased a new Garmin for my TV; seems to work better than the old one we had; also has unlimited map updates; using it in my vehicle right now to see how well it provides directions.
