Gray is black!!!!
my third trip out in my new Sunseeker MBS. On the second day may gray water was over full! But may problem was the gray valve was open. After and hour of troubleshooting the problem I notice my valve cables were crossed. So my black valve was gray and gray was black. So that was not good meaning my black valve was open both times during my trip not my gray. So I just switched out the valve handles.

Next time that you are camping, I would fill black tank with water and drain to make sure all solids are out unless you have a black tank flush and you have used it.....

If you use your toilet for #2, you should give it a very thorough flushing, maybe even do a RV Digest-It treatment.

And next trip out have plenty of liquid in that tank so it swooshes around in travel, then dump when you arrive at your destination.

Gray to full to finish trip
If your Gray water fills before you trip end, witch is offend the case. transfer it to the black tank and enjoy the rest of trip, you put cap on dump valve open gray water valve wait till everything fill up then open Black valve and let gravity fill black tank then close black tank valve then gray, Only Make sure the gray is fuller than black otherwise the reverse is going to happen

This happend to a friend of mine on a brand new Montana...mine has a flush port, but I all ways make sure I leave 1/4 tank or so of water in the all the tanks when I travel, then dump them as soon as I setup. That way the sloshing around breaks up everything. The kitchen sink tank all ways has some nasty stuff come out.

This will not help normally. It has been debunked so often it is generally regarded as useless.

This is what you should do. Water "friction" will help and will give better performance that the ice cubes and way cheaper too.
Having some water in the tanks at all times keeps the crud from drying out where it lays. Rehydrating it later is difficult and time consuming.

Another idea- I often put a couple gallons of water mixed with tank treatment chem after I dump on exiting a campground. That way the water/treatment
gets good and sloshed around on the way home or by the next stop.
One way to do that in a hurry is I add chems and water in a 2 gallon empty kitty litter jug. I do this as part of the packing up to bug out process. As soon as I shut the dump valves at the dump station my wife pours half in the john and half down the bathroom sink. By the time I've stowed the hose she's locked the trailer and is back in the co-pilot seat.
If I don't do that due to forgetfulness or long line at the dump station I make sure there is water and chems in the tank when I leave home the next time so it's good and mixed when we arrive.

OP talked about the handles being switched. Both my handles are black but at least the valves are exposed so it's easy to see which is which. Still, I'd like to have a grey handle for the grey tank valve if it's cheap. Anyone know where I can order a grey handle for the grey tank valve?

Curious. How would you transfer grey to black? Even if the valves are closed wouldn't you dump contents behind cap while hooking up hose?
Our gray always fills up first. We use a tub for dishes and dump it down toilet sometimes just to save tank space. We mostly use park facilities so getting extra water into black tank would really help.

If your grey and black tanks are both going to the same outlet, you'd add an extra valve on the outlet, keep it closed and open the black and grey valves to let them equalize the liquid levels. Then close the black and grey tank valves and you'll have more capacity in the grey tank.
Personally, I don't want to mix them. I have a 32 gallon portable waste tank so I can empty the grey tank if needed when I don't have a full hook-up site. In those situations we usually have a (water and electric only) site so we'll use the campground's comfort station for showers and toilet needs to conserve water usage. We tend to fill the grey tank in about 3 days even without showers.
Dumping used dish water down the toilet is a good way to save grey tank space.

Ah! That makes sense. I agree, don't want them mixed.
Thanks!
