I read earlier the question was asked would you do it in your backyard. Answer; Yes I do, matter of fact I spray the yard trees and garden with dish soap, ammonia and beer. It is extremely healthy for the yard and garden.

I mean I would never do it near someone else’s campsite, or in a fashion that would make a muddy mess. But I may or may not of let my grey water drip overnight and by the morning tank was empty and no sign of water laying around. Imo some ppl make a mountain out of a mole hill.......

Reminds me of pumping bilges. Aka "lowering the water level."

Never done during the day, or at night with a bright moon.

Always done on an outgoing tide.

Bilges were flushed with a healthy dose of AFFF to move anything away from own ship's hull.

It mainly has to do with the quantity of the gray water.

Many states, Wisconsin for instance, allow a homeowner which has their own septic system to run their sump pump on the ground. But if that sump pump also handles the washer water then it has to go into the septic system. It depends on what the gray water contains. If the homeowner or campground is connected to municipal water then everything has to go into the system.

Your best bet is to contact who is in charge of the campground, local, state or federal park. For the popups and a-frames that don't have a gray water tank the property manager/owner many times asks that you put a hose into a 5-gallon pail. If it is not permitted, not only can you be kicked out, it can be hard on the wallet if your caught.

Many years ago when we were tent camping in campground that didn't have many others in our section. A family with mom, dad and 5 kids in a motorhome 2 sites over dumped both their gray and black water on the ground in the middle of the night. The site between us was lower than the sites he and I had and it still had water from a heavy rain earlier. They laid the dump hose on the ground and let it go. The odor was so strong it woke us and I went out to check. Had a few choice words with the guy and told him I was going to report him. He was gone by daylight.

Hmmm not saying I did, but if I dumped grey water it wouldn’t be me. Or that water hose attached to the grey tank cover as someone else musta put that there cause it wasn’t there when I hooked up.

And the kitchen sink strainer has saved food particles from going on the ground, but since I never said I discharge grey water, that statement really doesn’t mean nuthin.

But that big blue Tank Tote sure looks like it’s doing its job, next to that water hose I have no idea where it came from.

Grey water help me put out the fire at the end of the night to prevent forest fires, why use clean water. 5-8 gallons a night helps everyone!

It always amazes me the biased on this. Trailer folks look at the tent guys doing this every morning, they wash dishes, brush their teeth and take hillbilly baths all at the water spigot. This is no different than tent campers washing the dishes at the spigot except your gray comes out of a pipe. Just in case you are camped next to a tree hugger, do it after dark so they don't rat you out.

Where I live... They are having terrible issues with the water supply contaminated from the user of AFFF on the local Navy bases.

When I camp hosted for the forest service the last 2 summers, I had to dump grey out on the ground. Black went into a tank and was pumped out twice a summer. If you don't dump a bunch frequently I don't see a problem. But then people do things...............

What the "tent guys" do does not stink, gray water sure does. I would not want someone dumping their gray water on the ground next to me.
