What are your interests ? Florida panhandle has beaches, lighthouses ,fishing , quaint small towns , museums , springs ,state parks and manatees . Probably a lot more .
We full time around Panacea , fl. and love it all . Where is Panacea , about seven miles from Sopchoppy , about 49 miles from Wewahitchka .

Hi,

The Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola is a very worthwhile option.

FWIW.

Wanderingbob we like all the things you wrote. Awsome suggestions from all. We will be leaving the St. Pete area in a few weeks and will be heading across those States and will have plenty of time to explore. Thanks for the suggestions and more are welcome

Cedar Key might be worth a stop. I also like Apalachicola, St. Joe's, and St. George. You can camp at the state parks on St. Joe's and St. George, if you can get a spot. Many folks like the Destin area and their beautiful beaches. Panama City and Pensacola offer restaurants and other attractions. We also enjoyed driving along the Gulf Coast in Mississippi a few years ago. There was a casino in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi that we were able to camp at. We were in the area for soft ball tournaments, but we did go to the casino one evening.

The Florabama in Orange Beach Al - for a cocktail or streamed shrimp and live music.

And the Florabama's mullet toss should be coming up pretty soon if you are into rowdy parties on the beach....

This is free and worth stopping to see:

The world-famous Blue Angels are based at NAS Pensacola, and can be seen practicing over the Museum at NAS Pensacola most Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from March to November. Practices typically begin at 11:30 a.m.(Central Time), and last about 55 minutes. Admission to practice is FREE and open to the public.*

Another interesting place to visit is the John C. Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. It can be accessed from Interstate 10, exit 2, close to the Louisiana border. As I recall they even had a rock from the moon on display. It’s been quite a few years since we visited so don’t hold me to the moon rock comment.

When you get to Mississippi gulfcoast travel along Hwy 90 from Biloxi to Bay St Louis. This runs parallel with the beach & very scenic, instead of boring/hectic I-10.
My favorite place for some excellent gulf seafood - Steve's Marina in Long Beach!!!
Also if you enjoy civil war & history - Beauvior is neat (I secretly enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the rocking chairs as much as the tour) http://www.visitbeauvoir.org/about-Beauvoir
Always things going around there ... Gulf Coast Calendar of Events | Festivals, Art Shows
ENJOY YOUR TRIP!

From Pensacola take 98 over to Foley Al. for some really good eats at Lamberts
home of the throwed rolls. Also has a huge outlet mall. Good RV park close to all is Anchors Aweigh RV resort, all concrete slabs for the rv and a patio with picnic table at each site all angled for easy parking.

If you're looking for a good campground along your route Gulf State Park in Alabama would be a great choice.
