Halloween in Campground ?
We are going to be in a campground over the impending ghouly holiday and I'm wondering if I should expect Trick or Treaters? Has anyone had any experience with this... it seems like a great excuse to pack a bunch of extra chocolate bars.

The campground we are visiting this weekend is having Trick or Treat Saturday evening.
We were at the same place last year and it was awesome seeing the campground kids all dressed up parading around to all the campsites.
Contact the campground you are staying at. They will tell you if Trick or Treating is allowed.

It's one of the BEST activities that a campground can promote. The kids (and some adults) have a blast! Most of the Travel Resorts of America resorts plan 2 or even 3 Halloween weekends......complete with hay rides, costume contests, haunted houses, decorated site contest etc. They even shut down the roads for an hour or so within the campground to make it safer for the kids to walk through
And what better place for your children to trick or treat but in a "safer" environment where everybody is like minded and the "treats" your kids get are more than likely going to be pretty safe from tampering because we're all there for the same reason.

We go to a local state park every year that has a specific purpose Halloween hayride (it was last weekend). Since it is pre-announced, then the campers are asked to bring candy. The way it works is the campground has a hayride open to the public (not just campers). They pull the kids thru the camping and cabin areas, and the campers then come out and give candy to the kids on the hayrides. The kids stay on the trailers, and the campers walk around giving out the candy.
Now, if nothing is announced at the park, and you are just maybe expecting trick-or-treaters due to the date, I have no idea, Janet.
Anyway, you can check with campground management to see if they might can tell you if they have similar plans for this weekend.
Here is an older news article on this annual hayride:

Our CG had Halloween weekend on the last Saturday of September. It was a good time and we passed out a lot of candy.

As mentioned, probably the safest places in the world to trick-or-treat. We are at a dog-dedicated campground now, and all the dogs will dress up and come around for bark-or-treat.

Our park has kids that Trick-or-Treat as well as some adults. We also have a campsite decorating contest with nice prizes. Some campers go all out on the decorating.

We do a Halloween weekend every year in early October. CG does a costume contest, site decorating, pumpkin carving, and a DJ at night. Sells out almost a year in advance. We had a little over 300 trick-or-treaters this year! Not one piece of candy left for me...
Never actually been camping on Halloween though. Be interesting to see if you get any visitors.

We are going on our last trip of the year this weekend to a campground that has specific Halloween activities planned. We're going to be with two of our grandchildren, but we've been told to expect roaming trick-or-treaters on Saturday evening!
Can't wait!

We do our Halloween camping over Columbus Day weekend. One of our favorite weekends! We go through approx. 500 pieces of whatever we come up with to give out!
Have fun. And bring some decorations too!

Just pulled into cg which opens up to the public from 2:30 to 5 for treaters the last Saturday of Oct. Did it last year, was a blast with roughly 300 kids, at least 10 doggie goblins. Cg shows a movie at 5:30 and had a few games as well!

Most private CG's that typically plan activities will likely have trick or treating. I haven't personally been to a state park CG with trick or treating. As suggested try calling the CG or even look on their website for some sort of events calendar. Have fun!

Sorry a little off topic, but I love your pumpkin trailer decoration in your picture! I saw that in a catalog last year but couldn't find it this year. Where did you find it? Very cute!

We are finishing our camping session this weekend with a return trip to one of our favorite local campgrounds. They had truck or treat two weeks ago but there will still be decorations and a few trick or treaters out. This weekend will be more grown ups and parties. Should be fun!

Most of the Campgrounds around here are done with Halloween and already closed for the season. I camped 1 year and went through 70.00 of candy in the first hour sos I was out for the second hour, so I do not camp anymore on Halloween. Our park has over 700 spots and you are allowed to bring 10 guests, plus the day use folke that are not camping bring the kids in as well, at times over 2000-3000 kids trick or treating. It is no fun.

Halloween trick or treat
Our campground closes on October 15 so we celebrate Halloween over Columbus Day weekend. Besides all the activities, hayrides, DJ, campsite decoration contest, golf cart parade, kids and adult parade, they have trick or treating on Saturday evening from 5:30 to 6:30 with other activities scheduled before and after that time slot. The front office hands out yellow balloons that you put at the end of your driveway as a signal that your site is giving out candy. No balloon, they just pass by your site.
