Hauling an adult trike
How do you haul a adult three wheel trike? It's a full size 26" Schwinn.Weighs
about 100#. I want to install,in fact my dealer is putting on,a 2" receiver hitch. I may build the rack myself as the redi-built are way expensive. Any other ideas would help.Thanks.

It's a bicycle not a motor cycle.

Wife and I both have folding trikes, they fit nicely in the truck bed. They weigh no where near 100#.

Yes, 2" receiver on the front of your truck and a platform. Worked great for us.

Just saw another thread with the same question. I have a folding recumbent trike (only about 35 pounds) and a fifth wheel. Putting it in the truck bed works perfect! I can see where you would have an issue with a Schwinn. There were suggestions to put a hitch on the front of the truck or back of the rig. I have also seen rigs where a trike is secured to the ladder for transport. I don't know if they were even close to 100#. Would you be able to lift it to the ladder?

My wife has an adult trike and it is heavy. I put a front receiver on the truck with a regular bike rack. I had to purchase a removable crossbar for the bike. This goes from the seat post to the handlebar stem. They only cost about $20. I was then able to hang the bike from the rack.
I do use a lot of bungy cords keep the bike from moving around, but once it’s on, it is quite stable. It rides below eye level and all truck lights are visible. That’s the only method I could come up with, and it works for us. Good luck.

I saw that rack at Northern Tool. I'm still thinking about building one,but I'm waiting for the 5er to get here.
I have a good friend that owns a welding shop and between him and myself,we can manufacture a custom fit rack for little $$$$.Thanks for all the ideas.

Wow 100 Lbs. So I just purchased a trike for my DW. I have a bumper bike carrier and I had to make a custom piece to support one side of the bike. So in the picture I have the front bar of the bike turned backwards to fit snug in the carrier. The custom support is on the back outside wheel area. The bike that I purchased is called Alameda and is lightweight aluminum. I weighed this one and it's 48 Lbs.

I love my recumbent TerraTrike Traveler! It certainly isn't a racing trike but it gets me where I need to go while we are traveling.

Similar Topic
I start a topic the other day http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ul-102145.html
I am looking at an aluminum cargo hauler from HF and a 4" hitch riser. My DW's tricycle folds and with the front wheel turned will fit into the basket. The rear axle will rest on the top of the basket with the wheels hanging down.
I call a few manufacturers and they don't recommend their products on motorhomes or trailers with any rear overhang of 6 feet or more.

We have a 2007 FR PUP and would like to haul our adult Tricycle, a Worksman side-by-side. We have an autistic son who can't ride without help, thus the heavy duty trike--weighs about 200 #'s empty. Our camper doesn't have a hitch on the rear. Any ideas on how we might take the trike along? Our tow is a "07 chrysler Pacifica.
