Help !!

Just Got out my camper for this summer and blew two fuses the 10 amp that controlls the inside lights and the 25 amp fuse which i do not know what it does. When i replaced the fuses the 25 amp fuse arched and the trouble light for the fuse either burned out or messed up the fuse panel. Should i ignore it or should i go to wher i bought my camper or should i call and ask some questions.

Buy the way i have a 2011 Flagstaff Mac Pop Up Camper

Please Help

Do not ignore it - you obviosly have a problem and could run the risk of a fire or injuring yourself or family

I take it the camper was in storage - did you re-install the battery or has it always been connected and just removed one leg?

Sounds to me either you have the battery hooked up wrong or possibly a rodent got in there and chewed some wires so they are touching now and causing the short which in turn is blowing the fuses.

If its under warranty you could always take it to the dealer but if it is something other then manufactures defects you may wind up paying for the repair depening on how your dealer operates

Dealer not to much help. Called dealer and they said look around the camper for loose wires. Wires that have staples through them. Wasn't able to get much help. Any one have any ideas.

Matt (Sherdep) has excellent ideas and I would start there too.
The reversed battery has killed more than a few campers.

Do you have a multimeter with an ohm function? You could test the wires to ground and see if there are any that have low or short readings. Typically, you should have infinity to ground unless you read thru some devices connected to ground.
Do you have a wiring diagram or one line schematic?

If it was staples thru wires, this would have shown up day one at dealer. I am inclined to go with battery polarity reversed when re-installed which could cause a permanent short to ground or rodents enjoying the taste of THHN wire insulation.

OK, Now I am worried

I have not reconnected the battery yet after we picked up the trailer. Does the red cable go to the positive terminal?!?

The ground or negative terminal goes to the FRAME. It is usually black but in my camper it was white.

Find the cable that is bolted to the frame. Follow it to the battery and put it on the negative terminal of the battery.

What is left over goes to the positive terminal. May be red, but not necessarily.

The frame wire is ALWAYS negative or ground.

You should never tow the camper without a fully charged battery connected. If the trailer becomes disconnected, the emergency breakaway will NOT work and your camper will be an unmanned missile on the highway.

If the dealer doesn't want to help you I'd contact Forest river with the dealers name and location. I'd then locate another dealer who will assist you with your issues.
