Go to the out side access panel to the hot water heater, when you open it look down at the bottom you will see a plug that has to be removed with a socket, this where you would drain the hot water tank. Once removed the tank will not drain completely but it is low enough as far as a safe range for winter as long as you leave the plug out, but I remove all the water I can then I open the relief valve and open all the faulcets in side of the camper and leave them open til Spring.

No, there is a white metel panel attached to the out side wall of the camper it as a small latch that turns then pull the access panel open, It's all on the out of the camper. There may be another white panel there as well but it is plastic and that is for the refridge service area.

If it is the one I am thinking of, YES it is. The way mine works if I turn on the switch and the red light comes on then the hot water heater will work on propane gas. If I leave it on the off position then the hot water heater will work on electric only. There is a switch in the access panel to the hot water heater that has an on/off position, I believe that it has to be in the on position for just electric, remember that the access panel is located on the out side wall of the camper. Now the way I control my hot water heater, I leave the setting as is and turn the hot water heater on and off by the breaker in the breaker panel, that way I know for sure that It is OFF. Just a safe Idea!

This may help you if there's any other info needed for your water heater.

Your questions have been answered pretty well.
If I may suggest-- in the future try to use a subject line that will let
us know what you need.
Such as-- Need help draining my water heater.
That way folks who know, will be able to find your message and answer it
better.
Also, someone mentioned you can run your water heater on electric or gas.
Maybe not.
Some water heaters are gas only
some are both.
Now you need to know which one you have!!
Open the outside water heater access cover and there will be a sticker on the
side or bottom of the compartment.
Look for the maker
either Suburban or Atwood
and write down the model number!!!
Tell us that and we can be more specific with our answers.
Good luck!!

it could also be for the heated tanks if it has them. The one for the water heater only lights up when burner is on and goes out when it gets hot and not using gas to heat any more

My water heater gas switch only lights up while the burner is in the process
of lighting or if it is unable to light.
It is not on while the burner is actually burning or when it is off.
That's why we need folks to send in their make and model number.
There are different kinds out there and they work differently.
