Help printing trip maps, TripTik style

I'm gearing up for our first long trip in our Grey Wolf, from Atlanta to Yellowstone. I want to have a map with the following items noted (manually by me):

Rest Areas
RV Friendly Gas Stations (like Luvs or Flying J)
Walmarts

I want to be able to print like a TripTik (from AAA). Each page is 4.25 x 11 (half vertical page). I've been googling a bit and can't find a solution.

Any recomendations?

Thanks.

I put a whole ream of paper into my printer and then go to Mapquest. 466 pages later I'm out of my province. :P

Why not get a Truckers Atlas? Loads of info in there.

Motor Carriers' Road Atlas

Loves and Flying J have books on all locations and amenities. Try on their websites to get them to send you one, or 2. As a former trucker, I had all fuel companies books and apps. But this being 2016, it might all be on an app.

Can't remember in detail how, but I was able to save AAA TriTicks as PDF files on my iPad, which I then could read with Adobe reader app.

I started looking at AllStays, they seem to have everything, but in an app. I'll have to see what our tablets can do, I think they are only wifi, so I'll see if I can hotspot or tether.

I do like the idea of the TripTiks, with SSP (solid state paper), it's boot up time is 0.

I use Trips and Streets. Works very well. Gives milages and drive time between points.
You can add stops. Will show gas stations but cannot show RV friendly gas stations.
Print off map in segments.

Have to agree with txredfish. Microsoft Streets and Trips was the best offline trip planning software ever. It was actually included in MS Office. It also came in a gps version with a gps antenna included that plugged into usb of your laptop. I was not happy when they stopped selling it. You could print your trip in trip tiks fasion, set stops with arrival and departure times, etc.. I still use a 2013 version that I was able to download free map updates until early 2015 (I think) when they stopped updates. I did see the software somewhere for download but do not remember where I saw it.

Just looked and it seems you can buy a 2013 version of Streets and Trips on ebay. Only problem is no map updates available.
Also, the software was developed along with Microsoft Map Point as a professional route planning software for sales people and delivery services.

Why not just join a AAA chapter and get their TripTiks for free as a member benefit? The SD AAA offers road service for RVs.

Just wondering why you insist on the narrow format? My wife/copilot/navigator prefers google directions. I always print those. Last trip to Gulf Shores I wanted to avoid a toll bridge. Google insisted we go that way. Someone here suggested Bing maps which were comparable and I was able to make it show my preferred route. They print on regular size paper but it's not a problem.

I turn on my GPS Rand McNally and it does all that you wanted. I cleaned out my trunk and threw out most of my maps.

GPS units are great WHEN THEY WORK PROPERLY. EVERY GPS unit will, from time to time, give erroneous information (My Rand McNally often tries to get me to leave a limited access highway, I guess because of heavy traffic, when the local roads are worse. It also has tried to route my 12'5" high Super-C onto PARKWAYS in NY). Paper maps, particularly the Motor Carriers' Atlas, seems to have MUCH fewer errors than ANY GPS unit I've tried (and I've tried most of them).

I currently own a Rand McNally RVND 7710: Bad hardware and software; $400 wasted.
Rand McNally 720 software: Preinstalled in my Super-C; some improvement over the 7710RVND but I would not have paid for it separately.
Garmin dezl 5": can NOT enter how much propane I'm carrying.
Copilot software on my iPad: can NOT enter much propane I'm carrying; can't get it to switch to "Night Mode" on my iPad. Poor customer support.
TomTom car software on my iPhone: for cars; NOT RVs / trucks

I believe TomTom now offers an RV product. I have not seen it yet
The "new" Copilot RV App limits length (either 40' or 45') NOT suitable if you have a TOAD. There was also a weight limitation; NOT for BIG RVs.
One of the RV "social" websites offers "routing" It is NOT routing for RVs!!! After getting dangerous routing, I wrote to and questioned the moderator. The lame response was, that his site was trying to facilitate RVers meeting, but NOT driving their RVs to make the meet! Absolutely insane. There was NO warning that the routing data provided may NOT be suitable for RV sized vehicles and, may put a large RV onto roads that were unsuitable / unsafe.

A SMART RVer will use MULTIPLE sources BEFORE they get into trouble. Google Earth, Rand McNally Road Carriers' Atlas, as well as GPS units / software, can be used to cross check. Yes, it takes time to do all the extra work (especially at first). With time and practice, it will get done quicker. We're all driving large, expensive "toys". It's MUCH better to prevent trouble than it is to recover from it.

I shall now step down from my soapbox.

Basically what jkoenig24 said, paper doesn't lose signal. I wanted to have a printed map of our route, the triptik had was nice that the narrow format made the route stand out, and it was zoomed in the right amount.

But, I'm going to look at AllWays app, it seems to have what i'm looking for, except for being a physical map. I'll likely go with a tablet with the route, and keep a couple state maps in the glove box in case I don't have signal.
