Everyone saying you should wait or give up your deposit--don't do either. If you have a signed contract, hopefully with a delivery date on it, see a lawyer. A lawyer can add costs for stress, inconvenience, legal fees, etc, etc, in addition to your $1000. Most often, all it takes is a letter with the attorney's letterhead. You will be amazed at how quickly the dealer becomes cooperative.

And advice about lawyering up will bring this thread to a close.

As has been said many times in the past by the mods... "Most of the time, once the discussion turns into legal arguments/advice, then it's outside the purpose of these forums."

Maybe a good thing as I don't think the OP is ever coming back.
At this point we are all talking amongst ourselves.

Two months is too short of a time to be expecting your trailer to be in. you asked for 'what we want' and that takes time.

The mistake You made was you should not have left your old trailer there. you should have said.... "We will use our old trailer and When our new one comes in, we will bring in the one we are currently using." the Dealer sold you a new one.... it was not there to take home, you should have kept old trailer until the new one was there.

You were not 'suckered', you just did not do due diligence in the negotiations.

To the OP... did you get any further word from the factory or your dealer about your unit?

Did it fall off the truck? they have us on the spot, they took our old trailer in trade and had us pay 1,000 down ( nonrefundable) on the ordered trailer. We are now in a bind since we want to leave on our trip in a couple of weeks, without a trailer old or new, any advice?
Suckered? Maybe, maybe not:

I have been down this road. I placed an order they said it should be in within 2-3 mo. OK, not a prob. Got a $1000 no refund deposit down on it.

3 mo later I get the call saying it's not in yet but they have several that have arrived that I may want to look at as they just what I want.

I go down and no they are not what I want or even close. After that I get calls ever few weeks telling me they have new ones and other models that fit my requirements. Finally I get tired of going down to see stuff that is just not close enough for me to buy.

After 9 mo I asked for my money back in writing. They said it was a non-refundable at which time I told they I will sue you in small claims court...they gave me my money back.

My guess is they never placed an order to begin with betting they could sell you one, but I was in a position to wait as I did not trade mine in..

NOTE: This is a scam that has one on for years in the auto/RV, boat etc etc business among a few less than honest dealers.

Not saying this is what happened to you, but I do look with a raised eyebrow...

Another one to watch is when a dealer says I can find one and get you it from another dealer: RUN, run fast! The Dealer generally pays Invoice to get it, plus any transportation charges. At this point in time you cannot get a good deal, it's not in the margins to give you a good deal. At best you may get a little off MSRP + trans charges.

I see the OP did post a question about a 2019 25BRDS on 12-11 so I assume they got it?

I don't know if the OP is coming back. Hopefully he/she does.

In the meantime, I have a question for those that have bought new (I never have). In response to Brother Les' post #43, when ordering a new car it doesn't typically take 2-3 months for delivery so presumably I'd think the RV dealer would want the right to confirm the condition of your trade-in hasn't change significantly before closing the deal. Does this ever result in the dealer trying to knock down the trade-in value after you've used your camper for another 2-3 months?

Have you bought a 'new' car and traded 'in' your old one and 'waited' 2-3 months for 'what you ordered'? Would you not drive for 2-3 months? The car sDealer would have your old car and a down payment (example of camper...) You have nothing.... The car sDealer does not care about the 'condition' of your old car (so much) as he will run it through a Auto Auction. The car sDealer wants something close to Mint condition before he would put it on 'his' Lot that he can 'turn around' and resell. Your old car will not sit on his lot for 2-3 months. He sells your car and has your 1,000 'down payment' and has 2-3 months to 'find' a car to match what you want. YOU LOSE all the way around...

Keep your old car until the one you 'ordered' comes in. The 'deal' has already been made and the sDealer has your 1,000 dollars. Your car will not depreciate that much and there will be a 'clause' about damage to car... ect...ect... No car in 2-3 months... deal off and you get your 1,000 back and still have your old car..

Now, plug in 'Camper' everywhere I said 'car'.

There is a reason that Dealers are call Stealers....
Don't be the one that got 'took'....

Not in any of the last 5 we've bought.
The deal was made, the unit ordered, we continued to camp 2-3 months and when the unit came in, everything was as had been agreed upon earlier.

Same goes for our last truck purchase... deal made... truck ordered... 2 months later everything as agreed upon earlier.

My dealer offered me what I felt was a reasonable trade-in price on my Roo sight unseen; Mini Lite ordered the same day in February. I rolled the Roo into the dealer on June 6 and rolled out with the Mini Lite. I don't think they even looked at the Roo before I left.

I've bought a new car where they gave me a trade-in price, I ordered the car, and continued to drive the old one for a month or so before the new one came in. And they didn't look at the trade-in when I picked up the new car.

specifically related to this: NO, they dont try to knock you down. if they did i would walk (RUN) away. we traded ours in online. the dealer just said that as long as everything on the camper checked out like what was shown in the pictures, we were good to go. same thing should apply to waiting for the unit to come in. as long as the condition remains the same, the value remains the same.

Also, before you 'trade-it-in', take every 'add-on' that you have put on the camper that you 'might' put on your new camper. You will NOT get any more money for these 'add-ons' from the sDealer and it will cost you a lot of money to buy 'again' from after market places for these items. Such as -Scissor Jacks-, Tire Carriers, bumper tow bar hitch, top vent covers, Canopy hold downs and legs, Sat/Dish and any inside mods that you like and are easy to remove and not cause noticeable damage. ect...ect... I have 'Sav-a-jac' attachments and 'Hide-a-Spare' tire carriers that I will keep if I can use and the Canopy hold down and legs.

Thanks for the replies to my question. I asked because I usually don't trade in and I've never traded in a trailer. The couple times I have traded-in it was a vehicle that was over 10 years old. So the condition generally is what it is.

When I've bought a new vehicle (only happened twice), I only had to wait 2-3 weeks not 2-3 months. I've never heard of a car/truck taking that long to come in. None of my trailers were bought new.

I guess the RV dealers are willing to take a bit of a risk on your trade-in since they usually offer such a low ball trade-in value.

We ordered our 2017 F-250 S/D on November 15th 2016 and it arrived the last day of February 2017 some 3-1/2 months later.

That is lowballing the transporter! My son hauled enclosed trailer out of a FR plant in Oregon, he was getting $2.65/ mile for those. He told me that the guys hauling the R-Pods out of the Dalles, Or plant were getting more than that.

Maybe they cut rates, that was over three years ago, can't imagine taking a cut in a nonprofit business!
