Maybe his old lady told him if she couldn't have the luxury MH, she may look around to upsize.

Helping a neighbor buy his first RV

(Quote:Helping a neighbor by his first RV and it was an interesting adventure. First he wanted something to tailgate with that had a toilet, refrigerator, and awning that he could tow with his SUV. That didn’t go well when the wife got involved in the decision process and we went to19 foot TT then to a 28-foot 5th wheel and new ¾ ton truck. Then it went 40 foot 5er and maybe we could do some traveling but didn’t like the size of the truck they would have purchased. Few minutes ago he stopped by with his first RV it was a Newmar Mountain Air with a 600,000 MSRP. All I can say that is one heck of Class A and heck of way to start your RV experience.)

The same thing happens with boats. They call it "twofootitis.) We went from a 12 ft. sailboat, to a 14, to a 23, to a 25, to a 28 footer we sailed on Lake Superior before we got old and had to start twofootitis in reverse!

This is also when you see the one or two year old RV for sale like new condition only used one or two times. People have great intentions but do not really look at there life style.

Not necessarily . We had a pop-up and needed more room. Went with a 29' travel trailer. More of our grown children wanted to camp with us, in our camper. Thus after 2 - 3 years we bought a 40' fifth wheel. No desire to go bigger. Needs change. As the kids get older (after their teen years), they want to spend more time with you.

My comment is the exact opposite of what you did. You started small found that you liked camping and moved up to a larger trailer as needed. My comment is towards the people that have never camped, jump in with both feet and then find out they don't like camping or don't have time for it.

Dave, maybe you missed the line from the OP that his friend was looking for something to tailgate with. It's hard to get addicted to something prior to actually doing it. I used the word impulsive, because the story sounded like it happened pretty quickly. Didn't sound like it happened over a long period of time researching options. But either way hope they enjoy it and have fun.
