Helping a Neighbor buy his first RV

Helping a neighbor by his first RV and it was an interesting adventure. First he wanted something to tailgate with that had a toilet, refrigerator, and awning that he could tow with his SUV. That didn’t go well when the wife got involved in the decision process and we went to19 foot TT then to a 28-foot 5th wheel and new ¾ ton truck. Then it went 40 foot 5er and maybe we could do some traveling but didn’t like the size of the truck they would have purchased. Few minutes ago he stopped by with his first RV it was a Newmar Mountain Air with a 600,000 MSRP. All I can say that is one heck of Class A and heck of way to start your RV experience.

If 600k was MSRP, maybe he picked it up for around 400k. Hope so.

That seems a little impulsive. Not sure how you start off looking for a small tt and wind up with a fully loaded luxury MH. Hopefully they will enjoy it. Best of luck!

Happy for him, but a little bewildered at how you got from a small TT to a $.5M Class A. I guess I'm cut from a different cloth, but I've been researching FR Legacies and Berkshires for going on 2 years now. I just can't fathom how one drops that kind of money on something they know nothing about.

I wish him the best and hope he has a great time. Can't imagine he wouldn't in a Mountain Aire.

Something to be said for skipping all the middle steps... I own a popup TT now, and my next purchase will be a class A, but i'm doing literally years of research before the plunge.

Got the entire story today. He drove about 125 miles to bigger dealer to look at Cedar Creeks. While up there he visited a friend that bought the Newmar last fall for tailgating. The first time he got into heavy traffic on the way to stadium he decided the Class A was to much for him to handle and never took onto the streets again. Well he sold to my neighbor for what he said was a price he couldn't pass up. Knowing both of them I sure that either one has to balance their checks every month for fear of bouncing check if know what I mean.
