holding tank use??

When using the holding tank what do you do different from city wter?

I know fill tank and use pump, but do you do anything extra or different?

Is there a valave that needs to be turned to bypass the or activate the holding tank?

What about the water heater?

I don't see that anyone has so here goes. We use our tanks alot and on our unit we don't have to do anything. We just full the tank. I would only tell you to check the water your about to put in we have gotten water we wished we hadn't and had to flush the whole system.

I would have to say "almost nothing" is the proper answer.

When using city water, always keep the black water valve closed until the tank is full before dumping it.

You can leave the gray water valve open all the time on city water BUT always close it the day before you want to dump the black water so you can flush out the hoses with gray water after you dump the black and close the black tank valve.

Then after the black tank is dumped and the hose flushed you can leave the gray tank valve open until the black needs dumping again.

When "dry camping" (no hook ups), valves must be closed all the time until ready to dump (as normal).

Whoops! I re-read your post and see you were referring to the FRESH water tank not the "holding tanks." My mistake as the holding tanks are terms usually saved for the gray and black tanks.

Since there are check valves in the feed system, you don't have to do anything different except make sure the pump switch is "OFF" when hooked up to city water.

There is a check valve in the inlet to the pump (from the fresh water tank) that keeps city water from spinning the pump backwards and filling your fresh water tank.

There is a check valve in the water hose connector (outside) that prevents water from blowing out the side of the camper when you are pressurizing the system with water from the pump.

StonewallGene pretty well covered it. Put water in the fresh water tank, and cut on the water pump. If you have a separate line going into the water pump for antifreeze addition, make sure the 3 way valve is turned so to pull from the fresh water tank.

Even if we are headed somewhere that has water hookups, we carry a couple of gallons of water in the fresh water tank for flushing the toilet and washing our hands.

i was confuse also by you using holding tank for the FW tank.
holding tank usually means the black or gray tank.

nope, the only thing you do when you turn on the pump, is run the faucets to get the air out. opening the hot side of the faucets makes sure water fills the WH.
then it'll be safe to light the WH.
