Honda companion or not

This might go in the tech area, but i'm still learning the ropes here.

Question is what would be the better 1st generator, the Honda EU2000i or EU2000i companion? Some of the info i've found on the internet has been vague. My understanding is that they are the same except for the 30A recepticle. Any input would be appreciated.

Thank you, and everybody keep posting the good info.

First off welcome to the forum.

You can't go wrong with Honda generators in my opinion but I would want the 30amp receptacle if it were me.

I have ordered and am waiting the arrival of my Honda EU2000, EU2000 companion, and parallel cable kit. I was told by the dealer you would only get the extra 10 amps (for a total of 30 amps) from the 30 amp socket on the companion if you had 2 of the generators hooked in parallel.

If I'm not mistaking the 1st gen is 13.3 amps and the second would give you 26.6 amps.

To me it is logical to NOT buy the companion first. Why spend the extra money for it if it turns out you don't need the second one. You only need companion if you have 2 generators in parallel. Buy it last, if you need it.

I was thinking the 30a recp. was on the paralel cable assembly. They should be wired paralel not in series to increase amps.I have an eu2000 and love it.Powers everything but the a/c.
