Hood fan exhaust

I just realized that my fan hood does not exhaust outside??? Instead, it blows the air back inside the camper. I have a 2014 FR3...25DS. Has anyone found a way of modifying their fan to make it blow outside? Is it possible?

I have accidentally left our vent "latched" a few times and honestly, I see no difference between having the vent closed and open. We usually have the kitchen window at least cracked open a bit when cooking so maybe that's enough?

Exhaust fan issues

They use different vents but most have a latch on the outside. Mine you have to slide your fingers under the flapper outside and pop it loose. I’m pretty sure the fan is the source of my interior mosquito problem. The light and the co2 from the stove attracts them and the grease filter grid is plenty big enough for them to get through. Pic shows the fan and the outside flap behind it.
