Consumer reports says they are using a different (spelled cheaper) type
glass now. They had quite a write up about sudden breaks.
Many were result of sitting an oven hot pyrex dish on a cool stone
counter-top. We used to do that because we thought "it's granite you
aren't going to burn it".
Never thought about the bowl/glass pan exploding but they do.
Now we use a cooling rack or coasters.

Sheesh, you'd never think you need safety goggles in the kitchen!

Cheesecake camping . I would love to be camping near you, in fact, you could just park that 5th wheel in front of my drive. I'll bring the fork.

I think the biggest travesty here is that you would ruin good cheesecake with a topping. Did you ever think that the Pyrex dish/pan was simply saving you from yourself?

(Just kidding about the Pyrex thing- freaking scary! and I know I'm the oddity about being a cheesecake purist.)

I can certainly understand his disappointment, in not getting cheesecake.

However, it could have been worse in my opinion. What if something had happened to a dish while make banana pudding? Now, that would have been a catastrophe......and a lawsuit from me.

Eating BP is the reason I go camping....and to a lesser extent my reason for being on this earth.

I thought Adrienne's reaction was surprisingly calm (at least by the time she told me). Myself, I would have duct taped the oven shut and never used it again.

I know Ralph was disappointed. Heck, I was disappointed. But the trout you two brought was delicious, and we had other great foods.

Thanks. Thought about the duct tape method...yet decided that over time it would STINK to high heaven. Better to "suck it up" and clean it.

Well, I've given the duct tape method a lot of thought. So, it is duct tabped and you were letting the oven cool. After cooling, heat the oven again. Periodically heat and cool until the cake has become mummified and doesn't smell any more. No smell.

Just used the oven again, this time with an thermometer. Well it appears as if our oven is 50 degrees hotter than it should be!!!!!!!!!! OMG!
