Hose for black tank flush

I'm curious about how you guys store your hose that is used for flushing the black tank. I thought about storing mine in the sealed container where I keep the sewer-related stuff. But I'm fearful of getting the fittings of the hose contaminated and then causing problems when I attach those fittings to the fresh water faucet for flushing.

Where do you store it?

hose for black tank flush

Generally the dump stations have a hose marked non potable water, used for flushing of the black tank. Flushing your black tank with the potable water supply is not being a good neighbor.Contamination is possible doing so.

If your at a full hook up site, I see no problem with flushing your tank right there...
Use a dedicated hose for flushing, screw the ends together when done......Flush systems have a backflow valve, so I don't see how contamination plays a part

Right. That's what I do. And everyone I know flushes right at their site. I'm just worried about how to store my dedicated black flush hose without it getting contaminated by other sewer equipment.

Don't put it with that stuff....I don't.....Germs aren't gonna seep through hose and the water flow is toward trailer
The back flow valve is high up inside trailer, and don't think water will ever flow backward on it's own that high

Gotcha. Thanks, Bob. I also use another brass backflow valve at the faucet end just to be safe.

I use this for my tank flush.

I store it with the ends connected by its self.

A tote sounds good. I think I will do as Bob says and connect the two hose ends together and carry it in a canvas tote, as you suggest. I just want to keep it away from my "dirty" sewer equipment like the actual sewer hose and clear elbow. I don't want the threads of the hose to be anywhere near sewage equipment, since I will be screwing the hose into a water faucet when I'm ready to flush.

I don't want to store the hose with my potable water equipment and also don't want to store it with my sewer equipment. So a dedicated tote sounds like the way to go.

We keep the black water tank flush hose in the same compartment as the tank flush valves. The fresh water hose is stored in a different bay.

Do yourself a favor and get one of those cloth shrinking hoses. It collapses pretty small an I put in a small tote by its self. I put the actual dump hose in the hollow rear pumper of trailer

I cut a wire closet shelf to fit around the sewer pipe to make a small shelf to hold my flush hose. Also room for potty pellets etc. Just fits in the sewer closet with sewer hoses below.

There is a shelf above the propane tank and I roll the flush hose and store it there.

OK, maybe a dumb question, but if the campewr is used fairly regurlarly, why flush the tank? Wouldn't normal usage and dumping keep the tank fairly clean? We aren't going to get the sensors to work right anyway.

We camp once a month and flush the tank after every dump. Watching what comes through the clear elbow during our 20-minute flushes made believers out of us.

X2. I connect a "Y" connection to the hydrant at the camp sight. This has an on/off valve for each end. The potable hose is connected to one and the second is connected to a self coiling hose that reaches to the opposite side of the camper to a tank flush. This is a very convenient set up. We can use the coiled hose to rinse things down without having to disconnect the water to the camper. The coiled hose is also simple to manage.

hose for black tank flush

I use a Teknor Apex 4002-25 Zero-G 5/8" x 25' hose. When I'm done flushing, I put it in a zip-lock bag and put it in my sealed tote! It also comes in a 50' length. This is a great hose!!!

I store my dedicated black tank flushing hose in a Rubbermaid bin with the sewer hoses and sewer accessories. I have a backflow preventer on the end that connects to the inlet port on the trailer and I connect the ends together for storage, so there is no chance of contaminating the hose and no worries about contaminating the water supply faucet but you can spray it with Lysol if you want to disinfect it.
