Hot weather care for TT

I am new to TT ownership, We have had our Micro Lite since Memorial Day and I have had the AC running on low while it sits in my driveway to keep it cool inside. it is not covered and our South Texas heat is ramping up to the upper 90's 98 99. yesterday I shut the air off to see what happens and the temp inside the unit went to 100 degrees. when I run the air on low I maintain 80 degrees but my air is running 24/7.

I would appreciate some advise, or ideas on what everyone else does. also is it harmful to get that hot inside the unit?

I have a 21fbrs and I leave it off when sittinig in the driveway.

I do tend to crack the vents over the Bed and in the bathroom to keep it from getting stale. Other have mentioned using a dehumidifier in them.

Mine sits for weeks with no air on.
I wouldn't worry about it.
Waste of money to keep it cool.

Unless the wife unexpectedly kicks you out of the house. In that case, you'll have a nice and relatively cool place to retreat to!

No need to leave the AC running leaving ours off except when we are camping

Been camping 30 plus years & owned 4 campers. We also can't cover ours either.

Looked at a lot of trailers in August of 2014 with the temp in the upper 90's to low 100's the only one we were in that was plugged in is the lite the day we did our walk thru.

That said it sits outside in the sun with just a 110 cord plugged to it to keep the battery charged.

We don't leave the AC running in the driveway. We leave the air vents open (we have maxxair covers) to vent the heat. We do keep it plugged in to keep the battery charged and be able to turn on lights and what not.

Drive by your local dealer. They are all sitting in the sun with no air.

I leave the roof vents open. It lets the heat rise up and out. I have installed the max air 2 covers so I don't have to worry about the rain. I also have covers over the skylights and shades pulled. It's unplugged, batteries turned off and slides in. No problems. We are in Georgia.

In the Lower Rio Grande Valley during the summer I would most definitely leave the AC on. I live in SE Texas and that is what I do. If you don't it can easily go to 120 degrees in your RV. My ACs stay on set at about 80 any time the RV is not in use. Good Luck

I am in south Florida where it gets real hot and real humid. Mine is covered until we leave for our summer trips but I leave the vents open as well as having a floor fan at the back pushing air forward and the up and out the front vent. It sits from October til July.

My thinking is that by having the air move through it prevents it from getting musty while it sits for long periods of time. I've been running the same fan for over 3 years now.

I agree with dj3spots, put MaxxAir covers on your roof vents and you can leave your roof vents open even if it rains. I forgot to close my bathroom vent last trip out and after we got home we got over 2 inches of rain overnight. Checked the bathroom the next day and it was dry as a bone due to the MaxAir. Now I have one on both roof vents and leave them over for circulation.

I also just leave the roof vents open. Both vents have covers so i don't worry about rain. I also have cardboard on the windows inside to keep the sun from fading and drying out the interior.

You may want to look @ installing vent covers,,, unless you have them,,, I just had 2 installed on out Sunseeker,,, so we can leave the vents open,,, I went with the Fantastic Vent Cover over the Fantastic Fan,,, it looks as if that cover allows more air flow,,, you can find a video on-line,,, I had the cheaper Max-Air vent installed on the back vent !!!

Cardboard in the windows also !!!

Here in the Central Valley of California we are in week two of 100 degree days. I also have Maxxair vent covers and leave the vents open to allow the heat to escape. My trailer is covered with a Classic Accessories Polypro cover, mainly for U.V. protection. The cover does reduce the interior temp somewhat. We have a dry heat, but I still use a dehumidifier and leave the fridge and freezer doors propped open. No power to the trailer and my batteries are on my garage shelf on a Battery Tender.
