How are YOU handling the Heat?

Looks like most, if not all, of the US is getting roasted. Here in the greater Evergreen State the temps today are supposed to top the mid 90's which is extreme for this area. Others I see are going to go well into the triple digits.

I spent last week next to a mountain creek and wish I'd stayed longer.

How are the rest of you dealing with it either while camping or at home?

FWIW, you can't buy a fan or portable/window mount A/C unit anywhere in our area for ANY amount of money.

For those who are stuck at home and keep their RV there, are you just using the RV for a "Survival Module" with it's AC? I did that several years ago. I just ran a 100 foot piece of coax from the TV "Box" to the trailer cable input. I could control the TV Box with it's remote because there was a straight shot from my TT's side window, through the kitchen window, to the TV Box in the family room. Worked great

Share your "Heat Survival Stories".

Mike, luckily we live on Camano Island, a block from the beach and we have a heat pump.
So the heat pump keeps it in the 70's and we can walk down to the beach if we need cooling off.

Sounds like we're neighbors of a sort. I live in Marysville but far enough from the Sound to have it hit mid 90's at my house. Luckily it's on the hill and I do catch the first afternoon wind around 4-5.

I bought a portable AC unit for my class C and vent it out the drivers window. The cab gets very hot because of the exhaust hose but with the privacy curtain up the heat pretty much stays in there.

Right now we are in Biloxi, Ms. and it's 90 out. Our site has morning shade but right now the drives side has full sun. The inside is staying at 71. I am happy with that.

.
Find a piece of furnace duct insulation that will fit over the exhaust hose. Visit a HVAC contractor's place of business and they may have a random length of insulated flex duct that will slip right over the hose. That'll get more heat out through the window.

Can also find pieces of fiberglass blanket type wrap in the Big Box winterization aisle. Wrap the hose and then wrap some poly sheeting over the fiberglass to prevent it from shedding.

Just a couple of ideas to reduce the heat.

Here in OH, KY, IN, TN the weather has been delightful for the past 8-10 days... hi-60's at night and mid-80's during the day just south of the Ohio river... even cooler north of here and slightly warmer south...

Too hot to travel so we're staying home (medical issues also)
You'll see us emerging in the early morning and late afternoon to run errands.

Hope everyone is able to stay cool.

Left Shreveport 7/23. Was 101. Stopped 2 days in El Dorado, AR to visit DW family. Temp was mid 90s when we left...rain was coming. Drove to Toad Suck COE at Conway AR. Temp never exceeded 90 and steady breeze for 4 days there. Now at Petit Jean ST park, AR and temp is in mid 80s. We had several 100 plus days at home. Grass dying, struggling to keep garden and shrubs alive. Finally got rain few days after we left. Sprinkled on up driving to PJ. Other than that we just have to suck it up and do best we can.

Just another beautiful day here in sunny southern Arizona. Pretty normal for us to be over 100 every day. The price we pay for out beautiful winters.

I forgot to mention that just taking an old sleeping bag and wrapping it around the "hose" would be a good temporary fix.

I live in Southwest Louisiana, high temperatures and humidity, we have a two story home that is heated and cooled by two 2 ton units, one downstairs and one upstairs. The house is insulated really well, did that myself when we remodeled. The thermostats are set on 72 degrees and are never touched. Our electric bill averages $170.00 a month, not too bad for an all electric home.

Crazy hot here in Northern Ontario. We have central air here at home so we're comfortable. Our worst issue is drought. We've been in our home for almost 30 years but have never seen the bush so dry. The lawn is long gone. My flowers are ok with watering. We've never had water problems but I am being careful with the well. So far so good. We've had two camping reservations cancelled due to forest fires near the parks. We have a complete fire ban. Keeping our fingers crossed that the fires are brought under control quickly and that we get rain soon.

113.0 degrees on my front porch right now here in sunny Yuma, Arizona!

The 'official' temp here now is 106.0 degrees.

My 5'ver is parked until cooler temps come back.

My 13.5K AC can't handle these kinda temps!
