While the furnace is 12v, you can't completely take that out of your 120v calculations.

The 12v has to come from somewhere and that somewhere is the converter when plugged into shore power. The furnace is a pretty tall 12v load and that will make the converter work a bit harder than just floating. You have to add the draw of the converter to the equation when considering 120v loads.

You’re saying 2 amps per cellphone?

So it's 10 watts which on 12 v dc works out to about 0.85 amps on the battery.

So ours has “heated and enclosed underbelly” wondering if that would prevent the freezing tanks?

It sounds like it would. But you might contact the manufacturer.

Should’ve paid more attention in the electrical section of science class. I’ll get it eventually

Heated means you use the on board furnace to heat the unit and the underbelly at the same time. If you have tank heaters that is a plus. I use the tank heaters and furnace any time temps are under 35 degrees or lower. When in the unit during the day, as long as its over 35 degrees, we use an oil filled electric heater when in the unit. We go out, then turn heat up to 50 degrees. Hope this helps. Ps, we camp in teen weather over night.

I found out the hard way. When off of shore power remember to turn your furnace blower down. We were out running by generator during the day (heat off), I turned the furnace on at night (under 40° outside) not thinking about it, the blower was previously set for Max (overhead ducts and high) previously using Shore power. We ran the battery down, furnace shut off during the night, at 5:30am the carbon monoxide detector went off for low power, what a wake up call!
