How long does it take for delivery???

We wrote our deposit check on 11/11, so this coming Monday (1/20) marks the completion of our 10th week of waiting. Granted, the weather has been lousy, and the holidays were in the middle of all that, but the waiting is killing us. We finished buying most of our necessities (and unnessities....yes, I know it's not a word) weeks ago, so I can't even occupy my time with that anymore. Blah, blah, blah. We want our "Tara" now!!!

Perhaps Forest River needs to give each unit ordered a tracking number so that the owners may check it's progress.
Or when it is being built a web cam to track it thru the build.

Have you tried to call the factory yet?
Does your dealer check?
Patience is a virtue, after you take possession it will be an absolute necessity.

The tracking number idea sounds reasonable to me!
We have no idea in what factory ours is being built.....is it normal to know? Our dealer had "hoped" we'd take delivery by my birthday (1/14)....we've checked in with our dealer a few times before/since....but have simply been told "not yet". In the meantime, my vacation hours are accumulating, so I guess it's not so bad.

Visited "one" of FR plants last summer in Indiana. This particular plant built 30 fifth wheels a day. I think all total FR builds 110 units a day. A definite must see or RV enthusiast.

FR owns several plant around the country.
I am sure someone who has a trailer like you can tell you where they are made.

From what I understand, the manufacturer assigns a VIN once the unit is in their production schedule...the next week or two. Has the dealer been given the VIN yet? Regardless, the dealer should be able to inquire and get a scheduled build date at this point.

Last year we bought a rockwood ultra light on Feb. 16 the and didn't see it until the second week of June. I know it doesn't help and is disappointing to hear, hopefully your wait isn't nearly as long. One thing that did make it easier was the fact that some newer features were built in that we and even the dealer did not expect. Led awning lights, led interior lights and a few other small goodies.

The tracking number sounds like a good idea - similar to the tracking system UPS,FedEx and USPS use.

I would think the FR has a tracking system they use during the build.

Manufacturing Sequence

Most companies know where a coach is pretty much all the time, here again, start at the TOP and work down. Find out who is at the top and work down. No doubt you will get some answers, and better yet, if you are withing driving distance, well. But first find out where that particular coach is made. Call Forest Rivers main number there in Elkhart, we found the main office by accident when were at Goshen last year. Get back with the Dealer OWNER, no doubt you can probably find a unit sitting on someone else's lot.

I would like to think so, it would be a boost if they got all the right options on the right trailer.

One thing that we did last fall was to call and arrange for a tour of the plant where our Roo 23SS was going to be built. Gentlemen's name was Brett Doberenz, I believe he is the sales manager or director for Forest River at that facility. We had a great tour and he was kind enough to take us back to his office and find out when our trailer was going to be built. We thought that it was great that he took the time out of his busy schedule to dig up the information for us. At the time the V lites were made in the same plant.
I found Brett's phone number here on the forum looking for "plant tour" information.

Brett's Phone # was 574-642-2640

Good Luck!

Ordered our 8289WS on 09/20/2013, took delivery on 12/30/13. Seemed like it took forever but it did come in.

I contacted our dealer on Saturday and asked him to please try to obtain the VIN and ETA. He said he'd check on Monday. Of course, since Monday (today) is a holiday, he probably won't reach anyone till Tuesday.

If they had told me 3-4 months instead of 6-8 weeks at the onset, then I (maybe) wouldn't be so antsy.

When we purchased last spring, FR sent us a Vin Number and an "off-Line date" once the chassis was pulled for assembly. We purchased in March and were told 6-8 weeks. It took 6 weeks and we had a 2014 model, not a 2013.

The model year may have changed prior to you unit being built hence the delay? maybe you will end up with a 2015, but they should have called to tell you that.

Your Dealer will get the Vin and Off line date direct from the manufacture. keep trying and good luck!

"off the line" dates are about as good as wino's word of honor. My friend and I both ordered identical Roo's at the same time (on the same call, even) at the end of January 2012. We were told "4-6 weeks" on delivery. I got my VIN at about 4 weeks. He got his VIN a week or so after I did. The "Off the line date" was given at March 5th or so for mine and march 19th for his. My 'off the line" date was changed to Mid April, and again (in mid april) to Mid June.

He got his on April 9th 2012 and I got mine on April 29th. I really think that they don't have any clue on what the off the line date is until they actually pull the frame inside and start assembly.

tim

p.s. as a funny side note... Again, identical campers, same color scheme, same options, same price down to the penny, ordered at the exact same time. His came in as a 2012 model year, mine is a 2013.

Our Rockwood was ordered 1/2/14 and we expect delivery to the dealer the end of March or early April. We are okay with that as we can't set it up till April 15. Found the timing to be the same for FR as for another manufacturer.

The salesman called today (Tuesday) with the VIN! But no word yet on delivery date. It's progress, at least!

With you being at 10 weeks now and taking consideration that 2 weeks is basically lost to holidays, it shouldn't be long. Another thing to consider, is the weather up in those parts has not been cooperative, which slows deliveries to and from the plant, which in turn slows production.
