It's a personal preference thing. It depends on where you go and how much time you have off etc. We will be going west this summer to see the kids that moved out there. We will be out for 3 to 3 and 1/2 weeks. Likely 10 days on the road. The most time in one spot will be a week and that will be pushing my adhd to want to move on.

Why I like to go mid week.. Less traffic and less campers! Do enjoy a weekend in the mix as gives us the chance to meet different folks along the way! We have only been out a couple times for 7 days. Planning a two week trip in Oct. any time out, no matter how long.... All good!

We try to go twice a month for 4-6 days. We make 4 or 5 trips a year that last 2 or more weeks. Our travel area usually covers the southeastern states. We have a home in Florida, also my mom, 97 lives in NE Florida so we don't get too far from her. Our last trip, Charleston SC, Waynesville NC, Powder Springs GA, and Milledgeville, GA for 13 days.

For those who have the time, we have found many campgrounds offer the seventh night free when you pay for six.

Just did a 1 month trip as a present for my retirement. Enjoyed it, but glad to get home. Had originally planned a 3 month trip and now glad we cut it short -that would have been too long for us. Visited 5 RV parks over that month - some for family/friends
and some for fun.

I used to book 4-6 nights but now I prefer 2-3 nights. Someday I would like to take a long road trip traveling from one place to another but not now.
Great choice for "Living within my means" and camping for one...

Just Back

We are just back from 7 weeks out. Big loop from Florida to Montana. Can't wait to plan next trip. Depending on the time of year reservations may or may not be necessary. We did whole trip with just 2 days prereserved and had no problems at state, national and local parks. Memorial Day Weekend we did have pre reserved and then had motor home problems the day before so had to cancel. It just all depends on what you like to see and do. Don't forget to carry your National Park pass if you are over 65. Enjoy! Have fun! Stay long enough to see our beautiful country.

We both work, so camping is weekends only. In Michigan, that's May thru October. Usually within 2 hr of home. 5 or 6 2-day weekends with a camping group with church. Also do the 3-day holiday weekends, but just us on those. Usually at State parks (electric only at the site).

Have taken a full week vacation - but we'll go to a full-hook up place for that long.
