How many feet of coax can be connected to a tailgater and still work ok?

I have heard if you camp under trees that sometimes you can't get reception because you are limited to 30 feet of coax. Anyone know for sure?

What is the source of the signal? if it Directv or Dish network and you show a 85 to 95 on your signal you can go up to 100 ft and still receive enough for HD

KP, the Tailgater is Dish only.

The receiver supports up to 200 feet of cable if it's high-quality RG6. Don't forget to count the length of wire inside your RV walls as well. A longer cable will just give you lower signal strength.

I have 100' of RG6 cable, I use the same cable even if I'm only 10' away, get the same reception.

Barry, thanks, that's why I kept it at 100, you potentiality have 125% of the length of the trailer inside. You will loose up to 9 to 11 with copper clad cable over 100 ft, if you have solid copper cable 8 to 10 DB loss per 100 ft then throw the loss through your splitters in the trailer. I think you have eaten up most of that straight 200 ft you quoted when it comes to the loss
lets say up to 1ghz, not sure what the freq are for dish
100ft copper clad cable -10 loss
30ft trailer 40 ft of cable -4 loss not so high quality cable
Splitter -3.5 to 4 loss
Connectors -1 each
Barrel at the feed horn jumper -1.5
Total of -20 db
200 feet of straight High quality copper clad -18 to 19 plus the other stuff

Splitters are not allowed on the dish to receiver line for Dish.

Great point Barry, I don't believe Forest River is paying attention to that. If you have a on roof antenna then you have a splitter in the traile.r Unless you go in and physically by pass it. They usually use a loop system, plus they can't cut a fitting right to save there lives. One of my only complaints with them is the coax wiring in their trailers
