How many of you.......

......use Dawn dish soap to clean your roof? I did a little googleing and many people do. Yet it is petroleum based and apparently that's a no no. I'm just wondering.

Hmm, I washed my two prior travel trailers, which had rubber roofs, and now my RV which has a fiberglass roof. Didn't realize I was doing something wrong. I must say, it does a great job getting the black mold and road grime off though.

My roof manufacturer says to use Spic-n-Span. Can be found at Dollar General or Amazon.

I've been using 'Simple Green' and a lil' bleach. That gets it sparkling white, but I've heard no-no's on the bleach.

Never use Dawn what I do is wash roof with Tetford Rubber roof cleaner with UV protector once in spring and fall. Sides I use a wash and wax, I probably do it too much but I don't like to dirt and grime on it. Then all rubber seals I use Slide out Rubber Seal Treatment. Probably over do all this but that's me.

My RV dealer mentioned liquid Tide, the basic wo all the freshners in it. Does work okay, roof is clean but not bright white. Over spill on the sides just rinses away with hose. About the same as the Theford roof cleaner, and much cheaper.

I use Tetford cleaner and uv protector is in it. Maybe costs a little more but to me the uv protector helps keep the rubber roof crom oxidation from sun.
