How much have you spent to upgrade your new RV?

It seems like no matter how well one spec's their new RV there will be upgrades in it's near future. The portable generator, inverter, things to make tank dumping easier, solar, more batteries, different batteries, etc.

Over the first year or two, what percentage of your RV's purchase price did you spend on all these upgrades/gadgets/accessories?

I got to thinking about what I've added to my collection of items I deemed "essential" and found I added another 7-8% to my original purchase price.

Big item was generator followed by solar but then it was a battery monitor, water pressure regulator/gauge, generator platform for rear bumper, and on and so forth.

Any others with interesting stories about how much they added (as a percentage of purchase price)?

Quick, faulty memory analysis says that we spent appx. 7.5+% on the 1st year. Big items generator, hitch & 6v batteries,

My biggest "mods" were replacing the couch with a reclining loveseat and adding 6 volt batteries for about a grand. I got $250 for the couch and $50 for the brand new original battery so I came out pretty good.

Add another $500 for the day to day "must haves" and I'm about done.

I generator is definitely on the list of future purchases...

Sounds like you didn't buy an "RV" but more of a "Project".

Come to think of it, me too

Some upgrades you can put on another camper I don’t even bother to count them. I have a barn outside that holds more fix’s that I don’t use anymore. I’m like a little boy in a candy store

Counting my hitch probably 20%. Let's see- TPMS, rear camera, satellite dish w/ 2 receivers, sunbrella cover, digital thermostat, metal bunk ladder, 2 inverter 2000 watt gens, 42 gallon dump tank, equalizer hitch, extra water hose and elec cord, power monitor/ surge suppressor, bedroom TV. Yep, adds up pretty quick.

I consider upgrades/repairs like race car/ racing money spent— don’t keep records, don’t want to know. Too depressing

$200 for the main room TV.
$100 for the bedroom TV.
$689 for the Predator Inverter Genny
$4800 for the electric golf cart because I now had a Toy Hauler that needed a toy!
$200 for 2 Trojan 12v 1275 Golf Cart Batteries for the trailer (a bargain from the guy I bought the golf cart from).
$300 in other misc stuff for the new camper from Walmart (New towels, Towel rack, Toilet paper holder, Broom/Dustpan, dish drainer, Queen Sheets and King Sheets for the Happi-jack beds).

$6289!!! Gee, Thanks for asking this question and making me think about it ;-)

Making life easeir

We bought a 2018 251 RBSS Solaire Palomino and headed to Lakeland Fl to have Big Foot Leveling Jacks on it for $3800. We swapped out - from the motorhome we were selling - the couch for 2 power recliners and swapped the bed mattress also swapped out the commode.

You either got the deal of the century or you have the mixed use deep cell.
True Deep Cells like that are used for trolling motors on boats or for golf carts that offer more AH capacity and deeper discharge rates run between $175 and up. The Trojan 1275's I have in my golf cart (4 of them) and that I bought two of to put on the camper to replace the crappy group 24 that came with it run $220 and up. That's why I jumped at the chance to get two at $100 each from my golf cart guy when I bought the golf cart.

If they are Lithium, they can run $700 each or more.

So to answer your question, people that want/need the extra 12v power or want maintenance free (AGM/Lithium) or that have specific battery storage needs (Want to put the batteries in a weird orientation in an unusual spot).

Within 2 months, we added disk brakes to our new trailer. We also had to buy a stronger hitch prior to picking up the trailer. I think that's all we'll have to add....knock on wood.

Same here. Even reasonable starting batteries cost more than $40. Well maybe not a group 24 automobile starting battery from Walmart.

There are things wives must never know of. This would be one of those things. I am scared to add it all up.
