How to store your trailer?

Hey, I was just wondering how everyone stores their trailer when not in use. Do you leave it plugged in and the AC running to cool it down? Turn your battery disconnect and just leave it for the next time? We are in a very hot and dry spell here in Kansas and I was wondering if it would hurt the grey wolf (Lucille) if we just left it park in the heat and hot box it as they say?

We leave ours ready to go for next adventure. We don't plug it in or disconnect battery.

I too worried about the extreme heat and cold. I never left any a/c on while in storage. I did leave an electric heater on like 65 in a cold portion one year...shop electric went up $50+ and I said..oops. It was cold after that.

I did leave it plugged up all the time.

I'll leave mine unplugged and the battery disconnected unless I'm about to go on a trip. Then I'll go turn everything on and get the fridges cooled down and battery topped off. We have covered parking so it does help with the heat a bit.... A bit...
Also leave the vents open

Unplugged and battery disconnect. Storage lot at HOA and we go over and start the fridge on propane the night before we leave. No cover ever. The wind would either tear it to shreds or put wear marks on it.

between trips I leave it plugged in (NO AC), during the winter and we're done with it, I unplug it and let it be and stare at it out the window wishing I could go camping. lol

My trailer is stored in a storage lot about 15 miles away. The trailer tires are driven up on 2X8" boards and just the front legs extended. The tires are than covered and the power is off at the battery disconnect switch. No food in the trailer and the refrigerator doors are left open with the window shades pulled down and slides in.

I have been storing all of my trailers this way since we got back into camping sometime ago. I have never had any issues with my trailers stored this way. How do the RV dealers store the trailers for sale on their lots in the summertime?

Unless there's snow and ice on the ground, using my camper this winter is not out of the question. Depending on where I'm going and for how long I will either temporarily de-winterize it at my destination or use the campground bathroom.

I store our trailer beside my house on a gravel pad I made several years ago. I keep it plugged in and the a/c on most of the year at about 86. Humidity is a big issue here.

I keep a large bucket of DampRid sitting on my dining table between trips. I also put small ones in the fridge, freezer and bathroom.

Guess I'm lucky as the Lexi is parked next to our home.
Have a 30 amp outlet outside, it stays plugged in 24/7. We use it at least 6-8 days per month with longer trips here and there. Fridge stays on. AC set to go on during real hot days (above 90). Have the foil/bubble inslolation covering all windows, which really cuts down on the heat buildup inside.
Also have a small dehumidifier sitting in shower that kicks on during humid weather.
During winter, rig plugged in 24/7 with a 30 x 12 tarp covering roof. Space heater kept at 45 degrees during below freezing temps.
I don't worry about spending the money for electric, as opposed to damage that might occur from extreme temps. I don't even think about the xtra 40 or 50 bucks spent to protect an $80 thousand dollar investment.

I used DampRid years ago. Works really well. I gave up on it when I installed power outlets at the house. Now I don't have to remember to check and replace the buckets.

I store ours behind the garage at my cousin's farm about 15 minutes from our house. No cover other than for the tires and AC for the winter. I keep the battery disconnected. The day before we leave, I go over and plug it in to top up the battery and get the fridge cold. The only power source I have for it while in storage is a 15A circuit in the garage so the AC doesn't go on until we are at the campground with a 30A connection. Fortunately we don't have the extreme heat you get in Kansas or the southern US, so it's usually not an issue since it only takes about 20-30 minutes to cool down the TT. If it's hot out, you can go to the lake/pool for a dip while the trailer is cooling.

Ours is stored in front of the house and we wired a 30 amp box so it is always plugged in. Battery goes in the bedroom in winter, along with boat and trolling motor, and lawn mower batteries as it is the only room kept at a constant temperature.
In summer, I will run the AC in the afternoon if I am going to be in it, but not during the night. I leave all windows closed all the time. My previous TT had a window I forgot to close and it rained heavily. So, would rather keep it closed but for the screen door in the morning.

Stored on a pad next to our garage, plugged in, battery disconnected and close to level. Currently, the fridge is running...that is something hit or miss depending when we'll use it next. I forgot to turn it off Sunday when we got home, and after thinking about it, figured it would be stupid to turn it off just to cool it back down again in a couple weeks...there is nothing in it though.

Ours is on gravel under a 40'X18' shed with open ends and sheet metal on the sides 6' down from the top - leaves lower 6' open. Always plugged in to 50a service, fridge off, A/C off, ceiling vent open and maybe one window. The shed is behind our house.

Every RV we've had since '08 has been parked in the driveway in the summer, plugged into 110v with the fridge running and RV stocked - completely. Always ready to go. No A/C on, just vents open.
Winter, though, is a different animal. The past 3 or so years we finally got on the list to store it at our county fairgrounds undercover. Totally winterized with the fridge emptied, propane tanks and battery removed, it sits undercover from early November to early April - typically. Our new Sunseeker will go out there this Fall.

We store our TT near house next to carport. It is out in the Texas sun. All windows closed, plugged into 30A with A/C on 24/7. A/C thermostat set at about 85. It seems to stay cool enough inside. I place damp rid on the dining room table and in the bathroom. Tires on wood with the white tire covers.
