Not sure if going to Utah is far enough south..but we once made a trip visiting Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, & Zion National Park.

We winter in McAllen Texas. Close to everything, nice weather and not expensive. We are in a gated mobile home/rv park, over 55 with tons of activities. If interested in more info, let me know. Fun, friendly people.

Just about any place below the 32nd parallel should work.

Southern CA, TX, AZ, NM, LA, FL, go south and find the kind of place you like.

I tend to pick a location that has some things I would like to see, ie red woods , I check trip advisor for other things to see in area. We like full service RV parks so I then google to search for RV parks near... I then not to search for campgrounds because they seem to not full service sites. I also tend to focus on pull through sites because they tend to be bigger sites. Just my way of looking for places to go

Check out the Gold Canyon area east of Phoenix/Mesa in Hwy 60 at the base of the Superstition Mountains. There are two parks one by Can Am and the other is Roberts Resorts property. Or Palm Creek in Casa Grande AZ off if I-10 south if Phoenix

We spent the last three years at Jamaica Beach R/V park Galveston, Texas. Nice park Accross the hiway from the Gulf. Marti Gras is a blast ..Enjoy.

We are in Bryce Canyon right now. Cold evenings below freezing. Suggest keep moving south. Grand Canyon will not be any better. Crazy Horse campground in Lake Havasu has plenty of room and ALOT of snowbirds. Think it was 75 degrees for thanksgiving when we went.

You can make reservations up to 7 months in advance for those campgrounds at Reserve America.

You are correct about Doheny State Beach being closest to Capistrano. I was drawing a blank on it's name. I used to take my son to surf contests there frequently. It's a nice place to stay inbetween Laguna Beach with it's great shops and galleries to the north and San Juan Capistrano to the south with it's historic mission and nice shops and galleries, also.
