Hurricane evacuation?

I haven't seen any discussions on this. So, if you lived in a coastal area and were to evacuate your house, would you take the TT with you and deal with the traffic or leave it and deal with the insurance? New to owning a TT so I'm just looking for your insight. Thanks.

If there was enough notice I would load it up and take the house on wheels and family with me, and know we had a place to eat and sleep once we got away from danger.
I have been very lucky never to have been forced from my home so I can't say I know for sure that it's worth towing in the obviously very heavy traffic I've seen on the news in such situations...Given the traffic in my neck of the woods I'm not sure I'd even notice.

Thanks. I've been leaning that way too. With Katia out to the east and eyeing my neck of the woods, I would get the TT and kids and head out ASAP.

We take the camper. This way you do not have to look for hotel. Also have food and drinks with you.

I think the only way we would be evacuated is if they knew without a doubt the storm was going right through my property. However, after getting through Irene without any difficulty I'm considering moving our RV to a shopping center parking lot in the event Katia follows Irene's path. Our RV looked like I camouflaged it with all of the leaves stuck to it. I have very large trees around my property and another storm just may up-root some since the ground is so wet. I don't want to chance the possibility of one of those trees customizing my RV. I can park it on the shopping center lot out of the way, clear from any light poles. I can just go get it once the storm passes. The lot is only 4 miles away.

we left town with ours for francis in 04, came home to a destroyed waterfront property with mud ,fish ,crabs,boat parts,seaweed and lots of busted dock boards that filled the lower floor,we stayed in the camper while we started to clean up the mess, then came jean about one week later, we took off again, came back to a bigger mess, we ended up living in the tt in a freinds backyard for about eight weeks. we were glad to have the tt and a place to park it that had elec. we plan on leaving for any huricane cat 2 or stronger.

That is one of the reasons for the TT. If needed, we will load up, go in a safe direction. We will stay in the TT, I don't care where, and return after the storm passes. We stayed during Gustav and when the roof started coming off and ceilings came down, I really wished I didn't stay. You have a home on wheels, with your own bed. You don't have to fight to find a hotel. We carry a small generator and may find a deserted parking lot somewhere and stay there. We have many more options taking the TT. That's my opinion.
