Hurricane Irene

Anyone planning on going camping this weekend with the hurricane approaching? We are leaving tomorrow for Gettysburg. We are just a little concerned about the wind and rain. We have a Rockwood Roo 21bh. Hate to cancel the trip.

We are going to Paradise Stream (near Blain PA) this weekend in our 625D pop-up.

I've check the forecast and I think we will be fine. Calling for less than 1" of rain.

Best of luck if you decide to go...

Irene looks like a real monster. I'm sure glad we only have to worry about an earthquake every 15 or 20 years. I couldn't handle several hurricanes every single year.

Watching CBS this evening, I was staggered to see how the aurthorities are reacting. I hadn't realised just how big a deal it was. NJ's gov has already put all lanes of the Garden State Parkway to run north. NY is anticipating 6 to 9 feet of water in the streets of Manhattan.

Good luck to you all - head for higher ground (at least 250' above sea level) immediately! At least it doesn't look like the winds will be as big a deal as they have been in other hurricanes. It's still only a Cat 2 as of 20:00 PDT.

We left to go camping in Promised Land SP in northeastern PA on Thursday. Friday afternoon the parks officer stopped by and told us that the camp hosts were all evacuating, and if we stayed we were on our own. Given that in order to get out of the camping area you have to cross a bridge over a dam that was being reinforced with rubble, we decided to take off this morning. Got a refund from the state, and got home safe. Y'all be safe riding the storm out!
