Hurting the value of our TT?

I am torn in half as to whether to leave the table with four chairs in or replace them with a booth dinette. Right now our TT sleeps four, but we were able to squeeze one more person in while on vacation at the Outer Banks (we got back last Monday night). Oh my goodness. Never again will I do that. My husband wants to leave the table/chairs in. I prefer a booth dinette.

If I replace the table/chairs with the booth dinette, will that hurt the value of our TT if we ever decide to sell or trade it?

Any changes to the original floor plan will affect the resale value being that it is then... 'not factory built."

With that said, if the table/chairs vs the booth were a factory option, then I don't think it would matter much because the unit could have been factory built with either, depending on how it was ordered.

It depends on the buyer as well.
We've had both and way prefer the table/chairs.

In my opinion, you do what you want to do to YOUR!! TT . If the changes make it more usable for YOU!!! go for it. The value of the TT when you are going to sell or trade, is what it is. Its yours now, enjoy it!!

Why worry about trade in? Do what you want to make your lives easier. Me? I'd never go with a dinette. We love the table and chairs!

If we have extra people with us rather than putting the table down we put an air mattress on the floor in the kitchen next to the table-we have a front kitchen. Much easier that way. I would assume you could do that with yours.

This!!!

"Usage" value over "resale" value for me every time. The more you enjoy your time in the camper now is what it is all about and you will have more fun while you own it!!!

Didn't buy our Lexi to worry about "resale value". Bought it to have fun, travel, enjoy retirement.
If i loose a few bucks when/if we sell it, so what.
If the next buyer/looker dosen't like what I've done to it, tough poopie!!!
It's yours, do what you like to it to make it comfortable, and enjoy it for the reason you got it.

If you bought your unit brand new, you have already taken a 25%-30% hit in "resale" value. That is the least of my worries. Make the unit work for you, if you keep it more than a couple of years I doubt the changes you make will seriously affect the value.

Are you wanting a booth dinette so you can sleep an additional person? We use a blow up mattress in our kitchen area. We find the table and chairs so much more comfortable. But, as others have previously stated, go with your needs. If you don't make it comfortable for you to use you WILL need to think about resale value because you won't want to use it so often. If you make it so you like camping in it you will own it longer and not worry about resale as much.
